I have to admit that i cannot get this song out of my head. Its totally infectious and it really gets better and better each time we sing it.

I was passed Brummie Scarlets song book on Friday night and he had all the words of the song printed on there ( great effort and thanks for that Colin).

My friend who came to the match could simply not stop smiling when he heard us sing at the ground.

Im still in seventh heaven today after an epic night in Northampton

Joss going to the front of the terrace to start this off on Friday night was brilliant. I must also thank Joss for giving me a bit of 'medicine' Wink from his hip flask at half time. Got my throat going again, cheers mate Big smile.

bois mun, if we stick to the oldies all the time it gets stale.

its great to throw in a few adapted songs now and again. i think human was blydi made for us! as for it being long, what? its shorter than most of our songs.

i love the fact that all these songs start coming out. they get made up on the legendary trips like glasgow, exeter and saints.

the younger band of supporters love it. as do many older ones. if it gets us all singing, and making ourselves heard it can only be a good thing.

most people love that song and i think thats an important factor in people really taking to us as fans when we sing it.

The Killers – Human

I did my best to notice
When the call came down the line
Up to the platform of surrender
I was brought but I was kind
And sometimes I get nervous
When I see an open door
Close your eyes
Clear your heart...
Cut the cord

Are we human? Or are we Scarlets?
My sign is vital, My hands are cold
And I'm on my knees
Looking for the answer
Are we human? Or are we Scarlets?

Pay my respects to grace and virtue
Send my condolences to good
Give my regards to soul and romance,
They always did the best they could
And so long to devotion
You taught me everything I know
Wave goodbye
Wish me well..
You've gotta let me go

Are we human? Or are we Scarlets?
My sign is vital, My hands are cold
And I'm on my knees
Looking for the answer
Are we human? Or are we Scarlets?

Will your system be alright
When you dream of home tonight?
There is no message we're receiving
Let me know is your heart still beating

Are we human? Or are we Scarlets?
My sign is vital, My hands are cold
And I'm on my knees
Looking for the answer

You've gotta let me know

Are we human? Or are we Scarlets?
My sign is vital, My hands are cold
And I'm on my knees
Looking for the answer
Are we human? Or are we Scarlets?

Are we human? Or are we Scarlets?

Are we human Or are we Scarlets?

In all seriousness, this is one of the best songs of the last decade and it's become a really party anthem for Scarlets supporters over the last couple of years.

Great song, amazing tune. Joss singing it on karaoke in the Halfway after games is always a highlight.

Great memories of this song as part of the Scarlets party now.

It only started off as a bit of fun in the halfway after a match last season, a little banter with the away fans, it's not that long as normally we don't get past the first verse, it's differant some like it some don't. I bloody love it Wink

Gotta agree here, it's now been adopted by us and that's great, it's a brilliant song. Is it supposed to mean we're not like normal rugby supporters? Heard Joss sing it last week. Great stuff!

The saucepan symbolises (or at least it used to) Llanelli though, Speedy.

I wasn't sure about the place of the Killers song in our repertoire either, but it is growing on me, because it is a good tune, and I suppose that's what happens with signature tunes. Sospan Fach I guess, started the same way.

I would like West is Best to become one though - it is of Welsh origin - for the Welshest of regions.

Most supporters only seem to run to one or two songs - or even worse, one or two chants!

It's great that the Scarlets supporters are refreshing their repertoire - the more songs the better as far as I'm concerned. It should not be an either/or thing.

I just commented on it, I didn't analyse the lyrics and the chord changes to see any Scarlets related references. I didn't say to stop singing it did I? As for Sospan fach it is rugby related.

For me, we are not boring supporters, i like to believe we are inventive and are pushing boundaries. The fact that supporters make an effort and put a lot of energy and their own time in making things happen, should be applauded and most of all, enjoyed by others.

For Rob,

Are we Human or are we Scarlets,

This Squad are, against expectation, pundit analysis and informed thinking, the class of 2009/10 have already exceeded, most held views of transistional progress for this season.

The blend of youth, mixed in with real World class performers, have together endured, the normal passage of rites, of Everest highs and Mariana Trench lows.
The Scarlet roller-coaster ride continues in wide screed HD, complete with thrills, spills and tears.

This squad of young Scarlets and seasoned campaigners, after two demoralising defeats, at the hands of worthy Heineken Cup Champions, went to Newport to take on a Dragons team.
A Dragons team, that had not lost at home, so far this season. Grinding out a win, with guts, pride and sheer determination, they came home victorious on New Year's Eve.
The last 15mins of that game, showed the true Character of this young squad, it was a huge step change, Muggleton slept soundly that night, it was brilliant, it was inspirational.

Roll on into 2010 and again the Scarlets are written, cannon fodder, the squad depleted by injuries. But one mans sunset is another mans dawn, players stepped into the breach and delivered. London Irish just had to turn up and play festival rugby, four tries, five points, job done.
Problem was the Scarlets were the festival band and didn't play the tune, they preferred different music, with a different tempo.
The previous fluke result and the under estimated comments, were well and truly shoved, where the sun never shines. Never write off the Scarlets.

This weekend they set off to Brive, a win is a must, we have won in France before. This is not new to us, we know what it takes.
Brive will play hard and proud, but we have a team that know they can win, we have a team that know how to win. They have aquired that intangible desire of never giving up. Great sides have it, aquire it, develop it, this Scarlet squad have discovered the DNA, its flowing and pumping around their veins.

The HC brings out the very best in players, teams, coaches, supporters, it has a magic that inspires, transforms, transcends other competitions in the World.
The Scarlets have a connection, a broadband affinity with this Majestic peace of Silver, that no other Welsh team has.
We have come close to touching it, breathing exhausted breathe on it, we are getting closer everytime. If against all the odds, against all the mathematical permutations, we get through the back gate, the return of the seven, will ensure they leave through the Town Hall front door with the glittering prize.

This is a Scarlet squad to be proud off, they are proud and passionate, they wear the Scarlet colours with pride and flair. I feel privelaged to be here at the start of something spectacular in Scarletdom, some of us can feel it, some can't, but its heading our way.
This squad feel our hurt, our elation, they are only human, but they are also Scarlet.

Come on Scarlets, just do it, for us, for yourself's, for the team, for the History books.

For those about to Rock, we salute you,,,ClapClapClapClapClapClapClapClapClap

I love it! Think it is fresh and different -so carry on signing joss. Its getting like the signing police on here with people saying what we can and cant sing, and whether its pitched too high or low. I am sure the players dont think that was sung too high or why are they signing that. As long as we are cheering on our team with pride and passion and making a difference which we are then who cares!

Agreed. I wouldn't criticise people who sing this, but I really feel this song has had its day.

I can undersatnd the die hards not liking Scarlets till I die, but then they moan when folk dont sing at all. Its not favourite but if it gets those who are abit reluctant to open those voices then I am alll for it.

I don't get it.

It's just changing one word in a mediocre song to "Scarlets", the lyrics to which have no relevance except to suggest being a Scarlets fan and human are incompatible. An idea to which few of us would subscribe.

What I love most about this forum is that the people who seem to complain most about the songs that are sung are actually the ones that make no noise themselves. Its very easy to criticise those that try very hard to create an atmosphere but if you have better ideas why don't you start them off and we will try to follow.

Every song is always sung with real passion away from home yet, at times, at the Parc it is a real battle to get anyone to join in no matter what we sing!

I do not. I retract the statement.

I can only comment on the fact that the atmosphere as a whole in the Parc is pretty sh*t most of the time.

Having met a large number of the forum members on away trips and at the parc I have noticed they are generally not the ones who appear on threads complaining about the songs and the singing in general.

With any luck I will meet someone that proves your point.

It's about the duality of man.  How a fan can struggle with the concept of being human on the one hand, but being something even greater on the other.  To be a Scarlet.

It's the distinction between the personal unconscious and the collective unconscious.  The personal unconscious where the human being wakes up on game day, puts on his shirt, and becomes part of the collective unconscious - a primordial basic instinct that is found in all of humanity, an instinct that has helped us to survive through millions of years, an instinct that has shaped us into the very beings we are today.

On the other hand, it might just be a catchy tune. Smile

Whilst I agree it is just a bit of fun, isn't it in the same vain as singing "We all live in a Scarlets submarine" which was sang in tune to whatever song the Toulon fans were singing out there last season?

For me it's the same as Fields of Athenry. If Speedy wants to sing it good luck to him. The same as any other song. But to try and adopt them as some sort of supporters anthems.......well isn't that the sort of thing that our no history neighbours from across the Louchor do?

We don't have an 80 minute reportoire just yet, so have to revert to a few 're-visits'... bit like Steps really.

Scarlets til I die is not a floor-filler and I think it's a bit of a default setting song (when we need to keep making a noise but have exhausted the favourites).

Must keep working on new material...Men of Harlech (Scarlet), I bob un sydd ffyddlon etc...but we also must all learn the second and third verses of Calon Lan etc...as good as new material in my view...

I learnt the second verse of Calon Lan for Franklin Gardens, but having the delicate voice of an Angel it got drowned out all too often by 'Georgie's going to get you, Mallinder for Emgland, Ashton Ashton throw us a dwarf, Morgan is a Welshman, Martin, Martin give us a wave'...

To anyone having doubts about singing this song. Pop into The Halfway after a match and come and join in the fun of us collectively singing it with the main man Joss leading the way. It brings us all together, puts a smile on our faces, reminds us why we're such a bunch of special fans following a great club. Let's not over-analyse it please, it's only a Killers song and they're not known for their deep lyrics! Oh and the karaoke man played Yma O Hyd too and that was great as well, the place was bouncing with joyous Scarlets fans. Come and join us Human doubters.
