Well, isn't it? Serious drinkers, bad language, worse jokes, sexism; a place we can come to get away from our working lives, families and other halves using sport as the subtext?

Before those damn "equality" laws of the 70s from a bloody commie government, pubs in the UK were allowed to be men only, a right proper drinking den, that, but then damn feminism and this modern "family-friendly" rubbish robbed us blokes of that final escape.

So, I put it to you, Scarletfever, that this forum has replaced the void that the decline of the 70s pub or workingmen's club left in our society.

Long live Scarletfever!

PS Mods - is there a way of putting an online snooker game on the board? And some darts?

And fights, forgot to mention some epic verbal punch ups on here.

It's pure, poorly-moderated, illiterate testosterone on here some nights.

Those Thought Police at the Ministry of Truth are bloody good at their job, that's all I'll say.

Be yourself. If people dislike you for it, so be it.

You know who said that? Adolf Hitler.

Some slight amendments and I'd fully agree...it was also what i like about the 'bar' when it was open..

-Change the web page wallpaper to a (the) Pirelli Calendar

-Get a juke box (with mostly Queen on)

-Someone with a low cut top on to take our money and make friently, borderline flirty, chit chat.

Tell you what Dr Martinov as late as 1978 women were not allowed in the billiard room of my local club. If they had a message like your Sunday dinner was ready they had to give the message to a bloke who would tell you. Have you been in the bar on here, it can be ok with the right posters in there.

Yes, the York Hotel/Whatnot was where the the sunken gardens is now. We had a great town at one point before it was systematically knocked down to become the absolute eyesore and dump it is now, I was born here (and remember the town in the 70's) and still live here thus reserve the right to have a go at it:)
Memories of Llanelli on Facebook, hundreds of amazing photos.

For those of you who do not remember the Llanelly / Duport steelworks, those were the letters of the furnace stacks that appear in the background.

I only remember Llanelli as early as the 90s as a kid and even then, I could see it was in decline. There were hopes St Elli would rejuvenate the centre, I remember that, but now when I go back the town centre has a horrible empty feel to it, as though it's dying. It's really sad. Always makes me think of Ghost Town by the Specials.
