On Sat., Tagi made a mark but had injured his knee.

There seemed to be a brief discussion between Tagi, Ken and the ref.

Tagi then placed the ball on the ground and as far as i could see (I was pretty close) didn't touch it with his foot, but simply passed it out (to Rhys?) which re-started the game.

Is this legal (assuming that is what happened)?

Or was the ref bending the rules a bit, in a rather unusual circumstance?

It seems that no-one knows the answer to this question!

Must be a first!

I answered this question in another thread at the time as there were two questions on this in different threads.

He can legally pass the ball to another player to play on, providing the tap is done correctly - which I think is what you're querying?

I did see what you wrote - but as I say, I didn't see his boot make any contact with the ball (though of course I could be wrong).

I assume that IF there was no contact, the ref should have called a scrum?
