Well done to Llanelli schoolboys U15s who have qualified for this years Dewar Shield Semi finals.
Llanelli beat a very good Pontypool side last Wednesday 22-17 at Trimsaran- Pontypool are defending champions & haven't lost a match for 2 years.

Llanelli now move into an open draw with Cardiff, Rhondda & either Pontypridd or Pontypool. Final to be played at Millenium stadium. A great achievement in Llanelli as only 5 schools to pick from.

Future is bright.

I did not realise there was a Llanelli Schoolboys team. Is this a new/resurrected WRU initiative or has it always been around?

The 5 schools being Bryngwyn, Coedcae, St John Lloyds, Stradey and St Michael's?

Wouldn't Ponty and Poola have the same or smaller amount of schools to pick from?

Good to hear though. Thanks for sharing.

On a separate note, I wonder what % of our players historically and now come from Llanelli. I would have thought the largest % came from Carms but not Llanelli. Not sure who comes after that.

I'd imagine Ponty have a similar amount of schools to pick from. If you compare to the likes of Swansea (13 schools) Cardiff (17+ schools) then Llanelli are doing very well.

Those 5 schools in Llanelli are correct. The Dewar shield competition has been around for numerous years.

Doesn't Glan y Mor come under the Llanelli Schoolboys umbrella these days?

As a former Coedcae boy myself, I am pleased with this #smugsatisfaction.

If players are good enough they will be involved in the Llanelli Schoolboys setup I'm sure, no matter what school in Llanelli they attend. To reach the semi finals of the Dewar shield is a great achievement. Llanelli have played 12 matches this year, won 10, lost 2.
