Well selection day is coming soon. If the NZ media is to be believed their team is there for the taking. Have we got the team to worry them? Our chances would be far better if we had a fit & firing Anscombe. I would have thought that Cuthbert & Wainwright will not be considered as Cuthbert has not played this season & Wainwright has had what 11 minutes?

My guess is the following :-

15. Leigh 14. LRZ 13. North 12. Tompkins 11. Adams 10. Priestland 9. Tomos
1. Gareth Thomas 2. Ken 3. Francis 4. Beard 5. Rowlands 6. Tipuric 7. Reffell 8. Faletau

16. Ryan 17. Smith 18. Dillon 19. AWJ 20. Tschiunza 21. Hardy 22. Anscombe 23. Watkin.

That would be a blow - Watkin to 13, Tips to 7, Tschiunza to 6 & Hawkins/McLoud to bench.

Watkin to 13 but I think they may be looking at Morgan at 6.

GpR that's the team, I was thinking of, but as we are currently  discussing  on here..injuries.?
One point of concern, is that this is our first game since SA, and NZ have played recently.

Should we ask be saying is.... We all suffer from injuries but for any young player sitting on the bench... An injury is music too their ears.
If I was a young player and I was playing for the Scarlets or Wales then I would be being for an opportunity to show the world that I am the best and that the shirt is going to need for the next 100 matches... We all need to get this mental attitude .. Supporter and players included.... Less negatively and more positivity....

Rumoured team for Saturday

Halfpenny
LRZ

Tompkins
Adams
Anscombe
Williams

Thomas

Francis
Beard
Rowlands

I don’t know why Morgan at 6 is a good idea.

Really happy with that team, It will be really interesting to see Dyer and LRZ together, Both on form. Nicky smith is also on form so happy to see him. Shame Lake is injured but overall happy with the team.

Team as expected - Adams didn't make it just Anscombe ahead of Priestland. Be interesting to see how Tipuric goes - can't help thinking that making Tips captain ties Pivac's hands somewhat in selection. I would have had Tschiunza at 6 but overall a decent team. How ready Halfpenny, Anscombe, North, Owens & Tips are is debatable. Glad for Rio.

GPR, spot on ,as usual.Yes Adams wrist problem ruled him out.
Gives Dyer an excellent chance to shine, and more importantantly, learn against a top side
Will be interesting to see if pivac considers Adams as full back, together with Anscombe,  whe n both Adams and Biggar are fit.

Halfpenny won't let us down, and kicking, a bonus.
Pace in attack ,could be a  issue , particularly  against better international  sides.
Pleased for him, as its so hard to come back from serious injury.

You're always in with a chance in a two horse race - even LadramConfused. NZ are clearly not the force they once they were, are missing Cane, Coles & Retallick. They still do, of course, have very good strike runners at 11, 13, 14 & 15 with pace to burn. Our best chance I feel will be to bully them & starve them of possession. Reffell needs a big game at the breakdown to slow them down & our kick chase needs to be spot on. North is going to be tested like never before at 13.

Posted By: Oracle
Date Posted: 04 November 2022 at 12:15pm
When NZ lost to Argentina earlier this year, it was when retallic was missing... When he didn't play they struggled in the rolling maul and line out .. Barrett in the 2nd row is a major weakness as he's more of a 6 than a 4 or 5 ... Also we need to put Taylor under pressure when he throws into the line out as under pressure he gives penalties away... The other Barrett brother at center is playing his end game there, so pressure need to be applied there...Aaron Smith is week of the left for when box kicking, so again our forwards need to put pressure to make him uses his left
George North will need to defend well as Ione is a very fast center and they need to watch Barrett at full back coming in for the off load..
We can definitely win this but we need to take every point on offer..
Also...I feel priestlands long line kicks will be needed before the 80 are up

Joke.Young back 3 talents leaving the club and we are stuck with an aging millionaire journeyman who can barely walk. Not to worry, the speedy Priestland will step into the breach tomorrow....but at least he can kick well for position.

Tad disrespectful to Halfpenny. He’s probably the best defensive full back in the world.

Met her at the ticket barrier at Liverpool Street once. It was a few years ago, when she was just a plain MP for an eastern Suffolk constituency, as well as a kindly aunt type of person appearing on local news.

Fast forward a few years and her inner Kenneth Clark has surfaced during her meteoric rise.

A pale imitation.

Yeah nice, has always been this tension with Biggar. Legitimately one of the best of his generation yet always a sense that he’s put a limit on what Wales can do in attack.

I also don’t consider it a bad thing that we get these 4 games to try out Anscombe and Priestland, hopefully Costellow.

Let’s hope Anscombe doesn’t have his pocket picked in the opening 2 minutes this year

I have to agree with Dic regarding the 15. Injuries have taken a serious toll on Halfpenny's sharpness over many years. The dancing winger who burst onto the scene with Cardiff all those years ago is no more. Positionally still wonderful, brave as they come, world class goalkicker. However modern day rugby is usually won by the teams who score tries and 15 is the best position on the field to get your hands on the ball with that very precious commodity - time.

Pace, an eye for an opening & an adventurous mindset are key. Have a look at what South Africa are trying this weekend with Kolbe wearing the 15 shirt. Full back resources in Wales are pretty bare & have been for many years. Liam will follow Halfpenny soon & then we are scratching our heads. Pivac will try to nurse this squad through to France 23 but he should already have looked at Adams & LRZ at 15. Of the next generation the only one who excites me is Tom Rogers.

No Llanelli/Scarlet side has ever won anything without a fast full-back.
We haven't won anything since Halfpenny turned up.His fabled defensive qualities haven't done much to stop us getting embarrassed pretty often either.
Halfpenny fits more into the Paul Thorburn,Bret Davey,Arwel with the ginger hair who played for Pooler school of full-backs.Dusty Hare,Jon Webb even.Completely alien to our tradition.
Didn't you notice?

I disagree, halfpenny on his day was world class, yeah he’s slowed down a bit but he’s still a solid player and a fabulous kicker and his defence is still brilliant. If you are looking for a quick attacking fullback the Pivac should of gone for Rogers or J Mac.

Halfpenny is preferred to both at the Parc. How many starts has Rogers had at full-back?I think he's the best option, but can understand why he's not picked for Wales.
Slowed down a bit??Man can barely break intoa stroll ffs.
What's so brilliant abouft his defence? Can't tackle without getting sparked
As for his kicking,I'm sick of the commentator saying "Well that was an uncharacteristic miss",or "just wide, you don't see that too often"every time he plays.

I head Gorseinon are playing a 61 yr old at scrum half-I thought,Christ I hope that doesn't catch on we'll never see the back of Mr.Instagram....
Frankly the sooner he calls it a day the better-he's just blocking the path for someone else, and his continued selection for Wales is embarrassing.

Same old wales, feels a bit like watching scarlets actually. Giving away needless penalties in lockable positions, falling off tackles, doesn’t look like the backs know what the plan is, no phase play…hopefully they pick it up from here and get into the game

2nd 20 minutes of that half we really perked up, fair play to the lads. Without the sheriff we’d be screwed I think, Tompkins and dyer on fire today so far.

I’m just struck at how much the AB’s want it though, they get in our half and smash through tacklers from a standing start 1-15. We need some of what they’re eating for breakfast I reckon

Theyre breaking so many tackles its hard to stop after that, tips and beard missed a clanger for the first try...couple of strange barnes decisions, their scrum half is all over tomos at the set scrums, sure I saw a forward pass for try 2... hoping barnes goes to his pocket if the abs keep infringing cynically

If this squad is going to the world cup, we'll be on the first flight home over the channel. Too many average players being bigged up by the media. No props at all, only Rowlands as a real SR, tipuric there on name only. Tompkins only real threat behind the scrum. GOD HELP US

Tbf, when will the WRU book this game last in the series so the team is match ready for a big game? Awful overall, giving away daft penalties, not exciting well, every time we scored we just opened the door end let them in to have a free try.

Oh well, at least costelow got 20 mins vs the all blacks, good experience for the lad

At times, it was like a hot knife through butter except the butter had already been fried off.

Let’s hope for much better for the remaining 3 matches, especially the 2 against the upper tier sides

Tompkins and Ken had really good games.  We're were devoid of ideas in the backs. Dyer and LRZ wasted. Tshiunza good cameo. Scrum struggled. Fair result, they were loads better ball in hand, powerful carrying.

All 4 props completely out of their depth. Pivac wants mobile props, but today showed what you get by picking big, hard props. NZ completely diminant in the front row. Ken carried well.

Beard and AWJ did nothing. Too much is made of Beard in the lineout. He is non existent in every other aspect. Missed tackle abd offers no go forward ball. AWJ has had his day. Rowlandsonly positive there.

Backrow, Faletau outstandong, Reffel and Tipuric completely out of touch. Cant believe Puvac chose 2 7's against this pack. Tshunzia put a little more grunt, but too late.

Tomos and preistland were meant to be this all attack half backs. Laughable.

Centres went well.

Wingers had little chances and anscombe was solid at best.

Grim times ahead.

Spirited effort by the team. However, this is a bang average All Blacks team (by their standards) and it was all much too easy. Lack of depth and general poor coaching (breakdowns were hopeless as was game management) lead to an inevitable defeat. Welsh rugby is in decline and it isn’t clear that there is any hope for the future.

This was the poorest AB's I can remember but they still scored a record points in Wales. Got to ask, what are the coaches doing? Breakdown non existent, scrum non existent, defense non existent, attack non existent. I recon its going to be a 0-4 Autumn. Hopefully that will be enough to rid us of Pivac

This could be a really silly question.

Leads with the chin……

Is there a simple way to get from the end of one broadcast eg Wales v NZ and onto the Irish v SA match?

My go method of last resort/the most confused is to exit Amazon Prime and then go back in. I’ve a Samsung TV and Sky+box for my usual viewing.

Any help welcomed.

It is interesting to note regardless of gender, they keep smashing us off the park, this clearly demonstrates the vast superiority of their system over ours imo....despite many imprvements in facilities over the years, our system still has more holes than swiss cheese. The regions and academies talent belt has dried up and rusted more than the steelworks..we havent produced a full back in a decade...barely any fly halves either..nepotism is still rife....the lack of promotion / relegation has brought in a sense of complacency too...Plus the regions and wru have failed to produce a welsh candidate for the top coaching job in decades

Thanks Nigel. For me, that didn’t work. It was just a way of rewinding the output, which is something I’d not found how to do so much appreciated.

The Return button did work and I could get back in to the match. We will see what happens at full time and I navigate to the match in Paris.

Thanks for asking that.

No I don’t.

Can you remind me how much it is and what matches it covers?

As well as our competitions, I’m quite interested in the ProD2 and think that’s quite a cheap add on via Eurosport. Again, any info most welcome.

Absolute rubbish from Wales.

The cheek of the WRU to charge 70 odd quid a for a ticket to watch that against a team we haven't beaten for 70 years

The true fans have spoken as the majority there today were either corporate types or just there for the Instagram likes. The atmosphere was dead.

The whole system is rotten from top to bottom, and there's still far too much arrogance within the Welsh game to put it right.

What the hell some of these development officers do god only knows.

The nepotism, the tribal jealousy, the blazer wearing committee men, its all toxic and it shows.

I'm sick to the teeth hearing the all blacks say they love coming to Cardiff to play, they should be dreading it ffs

Here's to another century of failure

How much for a subscription and what does it mean you can do without?

If it broadcasts to Pyongyang, then it should be fine in Suffolk.
