Huge shock announcement that the PGA, DP & LIV tours have merged. After all the heated debates, court cases, fines etc the PGA & DP tour bosses have deemed it better to sell out to the Saudis. Keep your loved ones close and your enemies closer comes to mind.

Greg Norman seems to have been pushed aside which reminds me that Rory, a champion advocate for the PGA over the past two years, commented a few months ago that all tours need to get round a table & thrash this out, he also said that it would not happen with Greg in the room. Seems he was right.

Who wins - undoubtedly the Saudi money wins & their human rights record doesn't seem to matter. Pretty shoddy overall is my thinking. The other winners are the PGA & DP tour boys who took the huge money on offer and look as if they will be re-instated soon. The feedback from the 9/11 victims group should make interesting reading.

Common sense but completely out of the blue.

Interested to hear what Rory has to say.

I cannot wait to hear what the like of Rory & Tiger say after being so strong in their stance & viewpoints. I'll be honest, when I saw the alert on my phone I thought Sky Sports News app had been hacked.

I'd give my right arm to be a caddy in the boot room on the morning of the 1st round of the US Open.

And me! Have been watching the "Full Swing" documentary on Netflix, very eye opening. Follows certain players on the PGA tour & LIV.

It stands to reason that Norman would have been stood aside as part of the deal.

Yes the silence from him has been deafening.

Correct Wil but the interview I heard Rory give was a little more precise than that. He actually stated that they needed to get the grown ups in a room which did not include Greg. Rory has a press briefing scheduled for 1500 BST at the upcoming Canadian Open where Monahan has already taken a ear bashing from many players.

The final agreement was at 16.30 yesterday, very appropriate as it was T Time ...
I'll just get my cost LOL

Rory and Tiger should feel rightly Aggrieved as they stayed loyal to the PGA despite the offer of some eye watering sums of money if the moved to LIV

What you say is correct Ladram. Just acting as if everything can go back to normal from next season is very naive. There is now talk of some form of compensation etc for the PGA golfers who remained loyal. Can't really see what form that will take in all honesty as I would imagine trying to get Dustin Johnston & Phil Michelson to part with some of their millions might prove a tad difficult.

No doubt the PIF will dip into their oil fuelled coffers and shell out some numbers to try to keep the PGA stars sweet. From where I sit it seems the PIF's master plan has worked wonderfully - shake up the PGA tour using good ole Greg as the frontman; get to litigation where the deepest pockets can keep going & gain control of the ultimate prize. Monahan can act as if he is in control but the money will talk eventually.

It does make me wonder where the World & sport in general is heading when money talks so loudly that basic principles such as human rights and freedom of speech are overlooked by organisations in pursuit of the dollar. I do hope that the people who run PYS & those of us who support them would all refuse to accept any money from lets say a Putin supporter who suddenly falls in love with rugby.

Johnson got more for signing that his career earnings to date Mickleson allegedly has serious gambling issues so good luck getting money out of him.

Rory has said he still hates LIV & talks of a 'merger' are incorrect.

Is this merger being funded by Saudi Arabia ....I think it's the same Arab cartel that sponsored Donal Trump's attempt at creating his own open a few years ago...I believe I'm correct

This merger ain't done yet thats for sure. Jon Rahm very vocal at the US Open yesterday. How do you square it with a guy - Rahm - who although offered $200M decided to support his tour & refuse the money with another Spanish friend of his Sergio Garcia who accepted between $100M-$200m.

I've heard the phrase the devil is in the detail but the detail on this will take some head scratching for sure. On top of that we have the US Senate requesting all the paperwork by 26th June because they are not very happy about it - no wonder the PGA CEO Jay Monahan has taken sick leave with immediate effect. His stress levels must be going through the roof.
