This penalty turned momentum for Ireland v Englnd, got them in the lead and they won the game. Possibly one of the worst penalty calls I have seen at test level in recent years.

Or am I blind and the officials are correct?

Didn’t see the game, what was the penalty for? Itoje did encroach in the middle of the line out, but I think the ball had gone over his head by then.

I'm assuming the ref blew for what he thought was a push on the lifted player by Itoje, but actually when you watch closely the Irish lifters cause their own player to move to the side. The front lifter doesn't engage properly. It's the Irish lifters getting it wrong.

You could argue that Itoje is closing the gap yes, technically, but as said above, it's actually in consequential to what happens.

Throw was clearly too high for the Irish jumper. As a result, Itoje's actions have no effect on the following action. Play on therefore to speed up the game.

I've seen a pass from Sheehan to Lowe, clearly forward, and my first impression was that Lowe's pass for Beirne's try may also have been forward. I'd certainly have looked at it.

Neutrals and English fans were also incensed that after O'Keefe warned the captains that the next player to escalate matters would see yellow, Lowe got away with escalating matters a short time later.

Looking at it again, Beirne as lifter also closed the gap. Which therefore do you penalise ? Well the away team of course. Hope he doesn't ref us as the away side in Munster or Ulster.

Both the push penalty and Lowe's retaliation in turn led to 2 tries. Poor again from O'Keefe.

Not that it matters but the touch judge gave the penalty.

The call came from the touch judge but imo it was very harsh and changed the game.

I would sacrifice a red for a smack on Lowe he is the most unlikeable player at the moment

A mild-mannered French friend of mine sent me a message out of the blue, as in we’d been discussing the rugby but nothing detailed. No lead up at all. He suddenly said, « Lowe is a fist magnet » and gave me the french phrase for it.LOL

Can't remember who said it but a professional player said if Lowe had played the game 15-20 years ago he would be battered at every ruck.

That was a shocking decision that changed the momentum in the game.
I know we were rubbish on Friday but I think we can give England a game at home.
All depends on Gatland’s selection can see him going with Thomas and Tomkins in centre which will be 14 in a row.

Yeh a lot of people think that. He just seems to have a smarmy smirk on his face all the time. As for the ref decision yeh very bizarre.
