A sensible move for all concerned with the caveat being how the Scarlets shape next season's coaching group.

Where’s he going to? Anyone know?

There were rumours he was going for the Connaught job last season so can see he's been on the lookout for something different.

I think will be a positive for us and freshen up the coaching team.

We want to build an environment that challenges our players, supports their growth and reflects the ambition of the Scarlets as a club. We will confirm details of the coaching structure for the 2026-27 season in due course.” - Nigel Davies

I believe that the days of accepting a mediocre coaching setup are finished now that Nigel Davies is DoR (interim).  He’s been used to being coached by / part of extremely professional coaching teams in his time at Llanelli/Scarlets.
I look forward to seeing what the complete coaching team will look like for next season, I’m sure that Jared is the first of several people to be moved on or demoted to lesser roles.

Like Wales, isn't defence the better part of our game lately?

I’d be shocked if Nigel wasn’t made permanent

All for the best. Our defence is lacking.

Miles better than when Babs was running it!

Sounds like a mixture of wanting out and being moved on to be honest, best for all parties.  I'd forgotten Payne was here if I'm honest  I don't know who else will be on their way out, but I can't imagine we'd want to lose Van Den Berg - personally it looks like he's improved our forwards no end from when he came in, considering he'd be used to a plethora of hard working large units in SA and has 2 genuine second rows to work with here (when they are fit).

Where does Peel fit in... In your opinion.

Yes but this is with the return of injured absentees.

It was very good at Saints. Not many teams hustle them in midfield.

What I will say about coaching,   is that apart from Dwaine, Scarlets havevbeen a revolving door since Easterby departed. He , like Moar and Pivac departed to undertake  international  duties ( together with Stevo).

We obviously need the right people in post, as some our picks have been poor. Continuity however is important to us, once the new team led  by Nigel  Davies( hopefully) is shaped ,  we can keep those individuals  in post to build relationships.  This cannot happen  overnight
Payne definitely  improved  the defence when Babs was moved on.
It is still inconsistent  however, and we are still leaking far too many tries.
Wonderful against Ulster, it won us the game in the second half.
Then we go to Edinburgh , and  then let in some poor scores.
No everything  of course is the coaches fault, as player errors are often punished, whatever system you have in place

It’s likely Payne already has a job in Ireland lined up with the IRFU as they’ve been high on him  as coaching talent for a while now and he was linked to not just Connacht but Ulster.

I just feel like he never found his own consistency with us and that’s partially down to the shuffling the deck under Peel and being too reactive a bit too late to things than proactive when it came to the entire setup.

I feel like Nigel will end up DoR even if it’s through to end of next year. Peel who knows, the Head Coach position is more a title than an actual thing since Nigel came back. Either stays as a glorified attack coach or leaves. Unsure. The next few months will be interesting.

For me, we need a clean slate. No moving Peel around, like we did Payne, then peel to attack, etc.

Need a new head coach focused on being head coach.
