As a consequence of my impending interview by the BBC tomorrow, I went to see SG this morning to make sure that my facts are correct and also to find out exactly what is in the public domain and what is not. The club have obviously had much more information in the past few weeks. Please remember that a lot of this is sensitive info and must remain off the main board.

  • The club have had advice from a WAG executive that it is almost certain that the WAG will call a public enquiry and a decision won't be made until May. What is definite is that they won't hand the decision back to CCC. This means that we only have enough money to fund the club until October. SG reckons he may be able to persuade HE to "donate" £4,000,000 until Christmas as long as he thinks the decision could be made by then. To fund the whole season would need £1M. There are three options on this - Fold, ask the WRU for an advance of the whole season's income (they've spoken to Pickering and have offered Stradey as collateral underwritten by HE) or ask HE for the whole amount. Very experienced sources say that we will ultimately win this and so HE may yet be persuaded.
  • The club have written to Rhodri and Carwyn Jones, who have also been written to by land experts on the issue of flooding. The EA have been convinced that the land is not a flood risk (apparently, the town centre would flood first). The EA have written that there is no significant risk which by their standards apparently is very strong language!
  • HE and SG are meeting with Peter Hain in London next week, but apparently there is no love lost between him and Rhodri. SG reckons that Rhodri will "save the day" at the eleventh hour. It was Hain that sorted out the WRU mess with BT and NOT Moffett (and we know he did the same to the O's). But, SG reckons that Hain won't be able to speed up the wheels and will just say that politics has to run its course.
  • Adam Price has told the club that he is in favour of the planning application and HMJ may have been [beep]ed by Plaid as she has sent a "good luck" message to the club for next season! I will email Adam now.
  • The training barn was never an issue as the club needed it immediately and retrospective planning could be sought - so Catherine Thomas is again peddaling lies.
  • In fact, Catherine has written to the club highlighting her concerns over flooding. She was invited in and was completely ignorant of the B and C flood status. Very naive for an AM! Much of the content of her letter has been repeated by Ray which shows that she is leaking him info.
  • Confidentially (despite Richard posting it!!), the land will be redesignated next year as B land which means that the WAG couldn't have called it in if it had been sent in a year's time (unless there were political motives). This isn't in the public domain.
  • The BBC have interviewed SG as well for this programme and he trusts Peter Johnson to be professional. He is also interviewing Councillor John Jenkins who has joined this forum. Has anyone PM'd him to see which side he's on? Why would he use a username that included Councillor if he wanted to remain anonymous?
  • The club have employed very seriously highly efficient experts to act on their behalf. They've already forced the EA to change their minds - so who knows?

I think that's all. As I met him alone to be briefed on the BBC, I felt that I had to post with the info asap to let everyone into the picture.

Thanks for that Alun, that's a lot to take in.

If there weren't any known serious issues with the EA, you have to wonder why was it called in in the first place?
I noticed John Jenkins username some time ago, but you never know with user names. Isn't he the Tory councillor who was excluded from the planning meeting as he had an interest in the outcome? ie. He lives in Chapman St or something? I may be wrong.

thanks for that abbey, great stuff, and well done for offereing to do the interview but (a piece of friendly advice), remember that you're on there as a fan and be careful you don't become a mouth piece for the club

all the best

Don't worry, Mark. I've thought long and hard and am now reassured that SG has been interviewed so that he can defend bad management, dodgy deals and the flood issue.

I want to set my stall out early by saying that I am a fan and not a resident and believe that everyone has the democratic right to have their say. We just want the continuation of the Scarlets and urge the WAG to make a quick decision. I will speak only as a fan and deflect all other issues back to the club. I will, though, site my concern at the rapid demise of the Warriors and the fact that the O's are flourishing with a new stadium.

Anyone have anything else to add to what I should get in? All assistance would be welcome.

I think that's the guy; a little bit to the right of Enoch Powell !

I find that absolutely devastating news to be honest.

Quite downbeat about the whole thing now. CT is an effing disgrace, too...

Good luck Alun - you won't need it, you'll do very well I'm certain.

When is it being broadcast? (sorry if you've already said).

I think Cllr Jenkins may be an Ammanford councillor, rather than the one you think it is boys.

Here's the tory (although now officialy 'unaffiliated'). If the Tories chucked him out he must be a top grade liability!

He's the only Jenkins on Carmarthenshire County Council.
