I sent a polite email to HMJ thanking her for her belated assistance and asked her to clarify her position. Her reply is very interesting, I think you'll agree. Any comments?

Dear Mr Roderick
Thank you for you message.
I have been in contact with Carwyn Jones, the Labour Assembly Minster with
responsibility for planning on a number of occasions stressing the
importance of dealing with this in as swift a manner as is consistent with
proper procedure. The Club Chief Executive is aware of this. As soon as the
Inspector in charge of the application is in post - hopefully this week - I
will seek a meeting with him as well to stress that time is of the essence.
A swift, impartial decision is in everyone's interests.
If you feel it would be helpful I would be more than happy to meet with
representatives of the Supporters Trust to discuss this issue. Please feel
free to get in touch if you feel that such a meeting would be useful.

Interesting! The thot plickens!!

Perhaps worth considering, and cultivating. No doubt Ms Jones would treat such a meeting as a media plus for herself, but if it DOES mean that she actually would encourage the expediting of the procedure, it could certainly do no harm at this stage.

Especially in view of her colleague's (Rhodri) intervention today.

I think the date of May is set in stone and that we should change tactics here in trying to attack TAN 15. As I said in the forum, it's one thing for the "little man" to get their planning application refused due to TAN 15 but quite another to see such a cultural entity as the Scarlets fold due to its all or nothing policy. The "little man" is helpless to argue, but the issue with the Scarlets can get the big hitters on board. There aren't that many AM's - and elections are looming. I think we should meet with HJM and perhaps Rhodri and try and see what mileage there is in attacking TAN 15. Opportunist, certainly - but hell, any port in a storm (...insert your own cliché here....).

At the very least run a campaign on that basis alongside the one we're already running Abbey. About time we started to 'use' the politicians in the way that the s9 have managed to do all along.

 Thoughts anybody?

Latest reply from HMJ :-

Dear Mr Davies

Thank you for your email.

I Agree absolutely that it is in the interests of all concerned that the call in is resolved as quickly as is consistent with proper procedure. I have been in contact with Carwyn Jones the Labour Assembly Minster responsible for planning on a number of occasions, and am hoping to meet the Inspector in charge as soon as he is appointed to impress upon him the need to give this call in priority.

It is my view that what the Inspector needs to do is to review existing evidence rather than seek new evidence. In light of this I cannot understand why the process should take longer than three months.

You may rely on me to do all I can to encourage the Labour assembly Government to act swiftly

Your sincerely

Helen Mary Jones AM

Perhaps Peter Hain can do this as well?
