Apparently Costellow is cover for 9....

I can see him playing there in an emergency - skilful player.

And lets be honest, the 33 named wont be the 33 that finishes, its highly likely that even after game 1 we will need to call up replacements so while we are happy now, there will be 10-15 players on standby including several of hours I would wager. Fortunately I cant see Wales going far with that squad.

Just seen this on the BBC:

You have to feel for Taine Plumtree.

He was all set to start pre-season with Scarlets this summer when he got a call out of the blue from Warren Gatland to join Wales on their training camp.

His ability to play in the second-row and back-row would have made him a huge asset but injury at Twickenham has cost him.

So it seems that Plumtree may have got picked ahead of Tshiunza but for the injury. Gatland has told him to be ready in case Wales need replacements during the tournament, so he may still make it...

I know there aren't really games but will be good to have them available to train. Especially Plumtree who hasn't spent any time with them yet.
We have 3 decent warm up fixtures, Barbarians on 16th  on 29th Sept. Dragons on 6th October (God knows why they're on Friday nights!). Then we have to take the squad to SA for the 1st 2 league games (Bulls then Stormers)

This means we can do that with a decent level of preparation. I'm chuffed with that.
We're still still here, but I wish we were in an Anglo-Welsh

Yes sorry for the boys excluded but delighted that they will be back here preparing for the season. They have all had more caps and the 6 Nations is only around the corner for them. I’m hoping that the experience gained in camp will help push on Plumtree Rogers and Roberts in particular. Kieran looked flat but then the pack was being hammered so awful ball

I hope we look at whether Plumtree needs an operation, and if so, get it done soon rather than try and ‘manage it’ through the World Cup period in case he gets a call-up. The last thing we need is to find out he needs a shoulder op once the season has started and lose him for 3-4 months.

What does it say about us as a club to only have 4 players representing Wales at the World Cup? We usually have 2/3/4 players on a lions tour, let alone Wales.

The lowest representation of any of the regions.

My concern as well. We seem to see too much of the “ managing the injury “ guff and it ends up in an operation! Plumtree has not even trained with his club and he’s been lucky enough to be capped.  I hope the club does the right thing here for the club

Not sure the guys released by Wales will be available for the Baabaas game.

I know you edited this to show 'Wales'm but to me it's not a great stat when we also have Fifita and Lousi.

No region has more than 6 (like us).

With so many injuries these days, it wouldn’t surprise me at all if some of the Scarlets boys who haven’t made the 33 travel to France as injury replacements.

A world cup is a particularly trying time as the players miss weeks of the season's start.  I'm becoming disillusioned with the Wales team. I'm also becoming sick & tired of Scarlets players being scape goated for poor Wales performances. Yesterday, Hardy's taken a load of stick when the pack were going backwards at a rate of knots & ruck ball was a mess. Tom Rogers & Jonny Williams have been criticised when slow ball allowed the South Africans to crowd the midfield. I suspect this World Cup will be a washout for Wales with a strong Fiji team threatening to cause a not so massive upset. With Scalets players taking flack for a poor team performance, our regions' squads being stripped due to WRU budget cuts & the Welsh lads suffering a potentially confidence hitting World Cup; a large part of me would like to see our boys (Scarlets) stay home & get a good pre season under their belt & a strong start to the campaign. I also think Gatland is past his sell by date. After the England game I noticed in a post match interview a Welsh player saying they're under instruction not to make mistakes, stick to the game plan at the cost of personal flair. Sounds like Gatland wants robots as opposed to creative 'play whats in front of them' players. Sorry but I'd much rather see the Scarlets win than see a crap Welsh team play paint by numbers with a gameplan 10 years out of date. Sorry rant over & I hope all our Scarlets selected have a fantastic tournament.

It’s what a sports person aims for in their career. To represent their country. It’s selfish to want to deny them that. Plus have you seen how much money they get? Open both eyes, a lot of players were criticised.

Apparently Hardy asked not to go if he wasn’t 1st or 2nd choice.
Wanted to be home with his youngest after she was hospitalised, which I understand and respect if right.
