I like many have been mystified by our matchday selection all season long . The not selection of Paul Asquith as been done to death, but a ball player and game breaker like himself , as been criminal . Flanagan saying that Nicholas and Helps( not young anymore) would be selected with an eye to next season .With up to 18 guys missing , why not play Jake these final games ? been so depleted , surely that would help the likes of Morgan jones and Price, to name but two . The non selection of Wyn is also disappointing . The time to look at next season is in Pre season, with our horrendous . I do worry about our lack of depth at lock . I wonder if we attempted to sign Matthew Screech, 160 appearances and 15 tries, very impressive! |

The coaching setup this season has been as poor as I can remember. If we can get our senior defense selection right and then just keep our coaching team for 5-6 years. I get envious at seeing Baxter at Exeter for 12 years. Next season is going to be ok but only that. Let's give Peel some time.

Anyone got any idea how many different players we've fielded in the Pro 14/rainbow cup and Champion's cup this season?

Our defence going into the New Year was one of the best in the Pro 14, not forgetting that heroic effort ,late on in Bath.

What does everyone see as our strongest starting team next season? I’m wondering if a lot of our big name players have gone over the hill. I also wonder how much rugby guys like patchell lee and cubby have left in them with their injury woes

I personally wouldn’t have Steff Evans in our strongest team right now. He’s way too loose for me, tries hard but makes poor decisions in my eyes. He’s got pedigree and has shown great form and finishing ability in the past but I haven’t seen that from him for about two seasons now.

I understand why people do it but I find selecting a best XV a bit of a weird exercise as we’ll always have injuries and so we’ll never be able to select that XV. Added to that players will always dip in and out of form, as well as needing to rest some games and so I’ve always naming the best two or three options for every position; or the XV for our next game a much better metric of squad health.

I was just curious if who people saw as our first choices, there’s certainly doubt over the likes halfpenny foxy cawdor and jonny mac for me, number 9 position is up for grabs

Far too often we throw him in at first receiver where he runs sideways and gets trapped behind the gain line. His lack of outright pace hurts us out wide too. We really don’t have much genuine pace in the back three, save Conbeer and Rogers when selected.

I would say that possibly this time next year, the likes of Rogets, Conbeer, Blacker, possibly Roberts will be pushing for 1st XV places(all injury free). The likes of halfpenny, foxy, steff, ncnicholl, cawdor could be struggling to make the 23

He still seems to cause problems for defenders out wide.

Couldn't agree more. Blacker has been a great find. Rogers is a nice combination of solid in defence with good gas and step. Some of those senior pros you mention may well not be insulated by Team Wales squad participation in 2021/2 and will really have to deliver at region level to keep ahead of the guys coming through. No down side (that I can see) to that. |

What a nerve wracking final 10 that was!! Feels like a life time ago. Best thing we can do at the moment, to try & stem the tide of points being conceded is to dead ruck everything in the way the Blues did. No one go for the jackle, get on your feet & fan out. Yes we won't turn the ball over but we sure as hell won't have the gaps in our defensive line.
