Our defence is poor - we regularly concede 4+ tries. All season our discipline has been an achilles heel. Nigel needs to read the riot act. I agree with Wil's assessment that performance was extremely disappointing from what was, Josh apart, our strongest forward pack. Considering the availability during this 6 nations I fully expecetd a far better return than 1 point.

It's plain and simple that Peel has to go but another season spent propping him up just drags us further down.

One big gripe of mine is that when we go through the phases our forwards regularly take the ball about 5 metres behind the gain line and do so standing still.
I think we need to be more dynamic around the fringes. Take the ball on the hoof and at speed. We are too pedestrian. Opponents seem to play at a higher tempo than we do. After his try scoring performances last two games, is it time to play Joe at 13 outside Eddie? We know that Eddie has an off loading game in his locker.

I think Eddie and Joe at 12/13 has a lot going for it.

As a whole, pur squad simply isnt strong/good enough to cope without players like:
Hepburn, Elias, Holz, Plumtree, Macleod, Costelow, Hawkins, Eddie, Rogers, Mee, Blair. Carrying too many players that arent pro standard. Doesn't matter who comes in, you wont get much better results in this league with the level of squad we have at the moment. Thats the harsh truth. With Hepburn and Marnus leaving as a minimum, we need to bring in a LOT of players. We also have potential retirements. We need at a minimum: 2 x looseheads 2 x hookers 4 x locks 1 x scrum half 1 x fly half I doubt we will be able to get anywhere near that though with us highly unlikely able to recruit yet. I did think Ioan Jones showed up well and Jac Davies. The plus point between now and end of season is giving the youngsters who have been impressing in training and SRC time on the pitch ahead of next season. Potentially Tian Sparrow, Jac Pritchard, more of Josh Morse, is Will Evans fit ? Dom Kossuth , Callum Woolley etc. |

I think we need at least one more tight head as well. Archer Holz seems perpetually injured.

Looks to me as though the new coach boost that Nigel brought is over. Last night’s performance was back to the low levels seen against Ospreys and Dragons over Xmas.
The pack was close to first choice but they conceded far too many soft and easy forward drive tries. I guess the big question is what happened in last week’s court case, and will that change the Scarlets certainty of funding and level of WRU funding for next season and beyond? The same commitments that Cardiff and Dragons have at present under PRA25 would have a very positive effect on recruitment. |

Yes I do because most supporters have one eye. For example looking on social media last night Connacht supporters were up in arms because they thought the ref give 50/50 decisions to the Scarlets. It intensifies if a team loses too.

There’s absolutely days the refs hose us. Yesterday wasn’t one.
We were second in every facet, same as most weeks.

I (un)fortunately missed this game at the last minute, yet I somehow knew what the story would be before I logged onto SF.... sad innit.
Having seen the highlights, obviously Connacht were too powerful (how many time have we heard that this season) our scores didn't come from great attacking play, just individual brilliance (again, how many times...) but I do have one question - there was a clear trip on Roberts for their 2nd or 3rd that stopped him tackling the player who made the final pass. I thought all trips were red card offences? seems like the score was ruled out but no action taken. Anyway, not sure where we go from here. You get the Bristol game, where we should have won and match a very good team, then look poor and get hammered the next few games, then you get Cardiff where again we look good and actually do beat a good team, then don't bother to turn up vs ospreys or dragons, then we get Nige in and things look better....only for Edinburgh and Connacht to happen. I fully expect us to put Zebre to the sword next, then not show up for the 2 games after that

I only saw some of the 1st half highlights last night. Yes under powered, but our forwards don’t take the ball at full speed, and so are sitting ducks. We do seem to go high in tackles, get the carrier on the floor earlier. 2 things about officiating, between 20-30 mins in the 1st half, Connacht gave away 4-5 penalties in quick succession in their own 22 yet no warning. Should have seen at least 1 YC dished out. They gained field position for their 2nd try from a penalty T/O after CLJ was tackled. Their 7 executed a seat belt tackle on CLJ. Just a penalty, but we were given nothing in that instance. A kick to their 22 could have yielded a score, but we went in HT 14-0 down. Ref was unsighted, but AR and TMO really should have picked it up.

We all know that you get nothing out of Irish ARs and the TMO - especially when there are Irish indiscretions. That has been the case since the inception of the Celtic league and that will never change unfortunately. They will however find multiple camera angles for a minor indiscretion by any travelling team and will very rarely use mitigation when dishing out punishment (for those travelling players), its part of this sh.t league that the WRU signed us up for.

I thought the AR with the hair had pessimistic interpretations of where the ball crossed the touchline for us, whereas he was suddenly over optimistic for the home side.
Equally, the Irish commentators were saying that the hosts could have been penalised for sealing off on a few occasions but weren’t.
