Last night I watched Dark City again. Absolutely love the film, it's up there with The Matrix for concept and style with it's neo-noir feel and bigger picture unravelling as the movie progresses.

I love most Sci-Fi films but this isn't considered a classic and doesn't appear appear in TotalFilm's 50 greatest sci-fi movies, so does anyone have any recommendations of decent sci-fi films that may be cult classics more than box office smashes?

Examples of films I've seen and loved are: Serenity, The Cube, The Thirteenth Floor, Event Horizon, Dune.

Tried watching Primer but fell asleep not long into it. To my understanding it's very complicated.

Also didn't think to mention that I went to see Looper this week. While it's a great film, the logic behind it is flawed.

It's great and if you like Cronenberg you won't be disappointed.

How about the much copied Westworld when the robots flip at a fantasy holiday resort and Yul Brynner is the cowboybot that cannot be stopped? ( a parody of his role in The Magnificent Seven)

Like Blade Runner but I'd say that was a blockbuster, I've left off Alien series, Star Wars + Star Trek movies for the same reason.

Have you seen "Moon"?

With Sam Rockwell. Nothing complex. But a very, very well done movie with a quite brilliant score.
