Lots of undercooked players in that squad.
Keep the faith

An early knock to one of the starting centres will present a problem with Costellow and Dyer as the available subs. Also scrums may be an issue in the second half with Dee and Lewis both on the field.

Some strange choices. We have a winger playing 13 & yet another wing on the bench!!!!! Surely the 23 shirt was made for Grady - his non involvement suggests the hype surrounding him was a little out of proportion.

As all 33 were available we can only assume that Gats doesn't fancy Lake & his throwing or indeed that Henry Thomas has not met expectations. In addition Nicky Smith must be wondering what he has to do to get a game. Our lineout will come in for some testing with a lot expected of Wainwright. Well done to Cawdor for getting the starting shirt & Costelow for his bench spot.

Tompkins against Radrada or indeed Botia will not be pretty viewing.

I think Gatland said it was just he hadn't enough minutes under the belt in training.

Tomkins picked as he will have loads of experience playing Radrada in premiership. Possible played against the others in Europe too so can understand up to point.
Really worries about the front row coming on in second half looks weak to me and they could get mullered in scrums. He has picked a bench to get round park at end of game with Reffell, Jenkins Dee and Williams.
Adams to cover centre worrying.
Anyway we can do it.
I haven’t even mentioned Beard doh.

She asks why i still can't answer. I guess its in the blood.

I think that Lake is currently a better impact sub than starter. So if fit he might have been on the bench, to take over the captaincy when Reffell comes on for Mogan.

I love Taulupe. Top guy, top pro, and Wales’ first choice for over a dozen years.

That Fiji back row is one heck of a unit though, and I really hope he hasn’t been thrown in because of his experience/ lack of alternatives. He’s missed a lot of rugby.

If there’s one player I think we could throw in and he’d look like he hasn’t missed a beat, it’s Taulupe.

(I hope this doesn’t come back to bite me!)

Fingers crossed.

Fancy Gareth Davies for a meat pie.

7 tries across the 2015 & 2019 RWC’s. Prolific..

Can’t find any scrum half with more tries in the RWC ( probably wrong).

One obvious negative for Fiji when they beat England was the slowness of their 9 when passing from the ruck. Crying out for a Cawdor intercept.

Thanks for mentioning Cawdor Will !
He has not had the recognition he deserves for where he is now.
This time last year, he was out of Pivac's squad...4th(or even 5th choice)  scrum half.
Even on his own assessment, he was off the form, we had been accustomed to.
During the season though, he silenced the critics with excellent, dynamic performances, full of commitment, energy, and dynamism. He must have worked incredibly hard
Gareth has deserved his place , and a scarlet, we are really proud of him!

On another point, I got 13 out 15, for  the starting line up on Sun.
The only two I did not pick, were Tomkins and Beard
I stood yer on tanner bank

Nor me Wil, I thought we’d go with JW’s physicality but Gatland likes Tompkins by the looks of it.

Well the time for all the hype/bullpoo is coming to an end. On the predictions thread my heart has totally overruled my head but here I will let my head take over. Gatland has drummed into the whole squad the mantra about being to hell & back in search of that fitness edge. Fact or fiction????? We will find out on Sunday evening around 30 minutes in to the first half & from 60 minutes onwards.

My dilemma with this is the chosen wisdom for any team who feel they have the fitness edge is to play at a fast tempo, getting metres into big legs. A fast open style of play will surely play into the flying Fijians strengths so Gatland has come up with another gem by stating that the fast tempo can be gained by a good kicking strategy - well I will enjoy seeing how that unfolds.

Gatland is a past master at getting his teams absolutely spot on for the real action; his we will shock a lot of people in France will have got his squad in a good place mentally. However if he conjures up a win on Sunday, even by a one point margin, it will be his greatest triumph ever bearing in mind how woeful Wales have been since he took over.

Where, for instance, is this mobility he apparently craves in his front 5 selections? Tompkins ahead of JBR is nonsensical. Tompkins will run around looking very industrious & failing to give an end result as usual & he is giving away two stone & metres of pace to Radrada. Adams hasn't had a decent game at international level this year. Three players have had very limited preparations for this game - Ryan, Taulupe &  Daf Jenkins - I wish them well. Over to you Warren - will your hype win the day..... watch this space.

Congratulations to George North on appearing in his 4th World Cup.

‘ burst on the scene’ in 2011 and is still the youngest try scorer at a RWC.
