It may suit those who want to improve and get more funding as a reduced welsh prem will raise standards and concentrate more funding between fewer teams...Theres also rules on facilities being improved etc The regions / wesh prem clubs need to have far stricter rules too on drafting squad players who are not involved in regional games that particular week..Jiffy is always on about the fact these young players are simply not playing enough games and hes right. If theyre not playing draft them out to the clubs... So too gatlands unused squad players are often wasted throughut the 6 nations. Look at patchell played abut half an hour in 6 weeks...Heck they reckon ray grav was so mad keen on playing as a teenager hed cram in 2 or 3 junior matches a day

They all get same money from WRU 78k I was told if they go over that comes out of their own pockets like sponsors or benefactors
Llandovery rent out the land around them to caravaners so bring a lot of income from that Quins have functions room let for parties and in my opinion should consider renting their training ground to caravaners bring in income if rumours I heard last that their benefactor was walking away |

Welsh Rugby Union | Wales & Regions | Richard Collier-Keywood and Alison Thorne join WRU Board
An opportune moment to thank Ieuan Evans for taking on the Chair role and being 100% behind the reforms from day 1, which he knew would see him replaced within a matter of months. There's been plenty of people questioning his capability and motives but he's seen the changes through and I've seen absolutely nothing to suggest he's done it out of self interest, he's always been an advocate of a more professional WRU and he's now seen that through unlike so many that sat back and did nothing. Diolch Ieuan.

Yes, we’ll done Ieuan, a club legend, one of my favourite ever players. He’s come in, forced through the changes that we all knew needed to happen - not an easy job because it required him persuading turkeys to vote for Christmas, and has now he’s made himself surplus to requirements.
This is in complete contrast to previous holders of the role, who just accepted it as a cushy number (usually for a number of years) without having to much. Diolch Ieuan.

Welsh rugby is set for a significant shake-up with a 10-team league, sitting between the regional and semi-professional game, expected to get given the go ahead for the 2024/25 season. The Welsh Rugby Union has been in talks with its key stakeholders for months in a bid to find a way to bridge the gap between the semi-professional game and the professional game. p:nth-of-type(2)","usedInTakeovers":true,"relativePos":"after","type":"VIP","targeting":{"index":3,"hivis":"n","hbPlacements":"m-vip"},"sizes":[[8,8]],"hideOnSensitiveArticle":true,"additionalClass":"in-article","name":"div-gpt-ad-vip-slot","bidders":{"ozone":"1420432351","xandr":"29635909"}}" data-gpt-placeholder="" data-response-start="2646.5" data-type="gpt" data-requested="13325.300000000745" data-google-query-id="CJT01ZvlzP8CFcXa7Qod02sDvw" data-response-end="21473.60000000056" data-timer-slot-rendered="21506.300000000745" data-rendered-width="8" data-rendered-height="8" style="background-image: initial; background-position: initial; background-size: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial; border: 0px; font-size: 16px; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline; align-items: center; display: flex; justify-content: center; overflow: hidden; z-index: 1; clear: both; height: 8px; color: rgb(20, 20, 20); font-family: "Open Sans", sans-serif; max-height: 8px;"> < id="google_ads__/5293/walesonline.co.uk/s/rugby/rugby-news_4" name="google_ads__/5293/walesonline.co.uk/s/rugby/rugby-news_4" title="3rd party ad " width="8px" height="8" scrolling="no" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" border="0" role="region" aria-label="Advertisement" ="0" sand="allow-s allow-pointer-lock allow-popups allow-popups-to-escape-sand allow-same-origin allow-s allow-top-navigation-by-user-activation" -load-complete="true" -google-container-id="l" style=": rgba0, 0, 0, 0; border-width: 0px; border-style: initial; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: bottom;"> Originally, the plan was to have an elite eight-team league but they have reached a compromise of 10 clubs. Crucially, this new competition will be under the control of the Professional Game Board, not the Community Game board |
