Interesting contrast on the replays after and incident in Ireland v Scotland.

The clearing out of Sexton at a ruck got about 5 different angles in no time. The ref gave a deserved yellow to the Scot.

After their try just before 70 mins, the Irish support players followed up, well after Toner had touched down and shoved Horne to the ground. A serious confrontation took place, involving most of the players and after a delay, Gauzere talked to both captains to remind them that they are in charge of their own players, or should be.

The to replay, only from one angle stopped just before Horne got shoved to the ground and the stramash started.

Double standards. Very poor.

Wonder what the French make about the English singing about a shopping trolley.

Le chariot translates as that.

The song is an American negro spiritual, probably pre civil war.

Nicely ironic that a people who supported wholeheartedly the Confederacy have now adopted a "slave" song.

Anyway, looks like they may have sealed the Grand Slam. Boooooooo.

Congratulations England deserved but I can't help thinking it's one we threw away.
On a Nigel note how the hell did England not get yellow card penalised for same offence I counted at least 7 times but not even warning. I know offence holding on but surely this stops the opposition getting turnovers which can be the most dangerous ball.
She asks why i still can't answer. I guess its in the blood.

Following up on MMs post  on the irony of "swing low" being a negro spiritual which was first sung under the most horrendous conditions of slavery in the American south by slaves longing to go home.
Ports like Bristol and Liverpool grew mainly on the slave trade and the cotton and tobacco plantations and this has been carefully *whitewashed* from history and it doesn't even touch most of those rugby fans as being ironic, nor does the wearing of those crusader outfits which should be associated with ethnic and religious cleansing.
* inappropriate but can't  think of a better word to describe the sort of brainwashing that  brushes our atrocities under the carpet bombing.

Can we possibly have 1 thread that is focussed on what happened on the field in rugby terms, and not on a socio-political debate. Thanks.

That would be possible if it wasn't for the fact that most of life is political, as is the hypocrisy of the English supporters. If you don't like anyone pointing this out, perhaps you should re-phrase your request to something like "can we keep on brushing under the carpet  any criticisms of the establishment and it's past".

Totally agree. There are threads in other sections for political discussions. Plenty of rugby to discuss!
