Hypothetical question. If a 35 year old Priestland was still at the club would he be ahead of him? The answer to that would most probably be yes. Just because he is a Quins product and no doubt cheap doesn’t mean he’s good enough. Angus O’Brien has looked far better.

I actually didn't really see Angus competing for the 10 shirt with us, or indeed with the Dragons. Angus is a 15 (who can play 10 if needed) by trade, something borne out by the Dragons only picking him there.
If he'd have stayed with the Scarlets he'd be vying with the likes of McNichol, Halfpenny and maybe Rogers and Nicholas for the 15 shirt. He's made a smart move in my view, especially with Jonah Holmes and Josh Lewis moving on last season.

A 35 year old Priestland is/would be with the Wales squad, so there's no point to be debated there really. Bet Cardiff are chuffed with that by the way.

I don't understand the Quins point there sorry.

With the Angus piece though you have hit the scarlets nail on the head - too many people vying for shirts hence we never know what our starting 15 is. Angus now nailed on at Dragons15 and doing well (and in a better team than us now). We need to sort out or we will never compete.

Totally agree on Blacker (no game time) and Costelow. The English system would mean they are automatically released if not in the 23 and their club have a game.

Jac has picked up a knock and is out for a short time. Morgan is just an enigma to my mind. Huge potential, we/he haven't yet found a way to unlock it for some reason. He's EQ, so may be he's thinking of a move to England, pure guess.

Absolutely or even if Wales had a proper professional Union where the WRU had to pay for every day they wanted a player in the squad. We would soon see players released if not required.

Is anyone on here confident about the game tonight? If we could get a losing BP and a win against the Lions I would be very happy. A tall ask but let’s hopefully the rest has done the boys good.

No, not confident at all sadly. On paper, we have a good team out but I feel we have had a good side out in many of our games this season.

I hope the new coach has had time to work some magic.

Points of interest for me are whether we can see the impact of Blackett on the team...good line speed, better pillar defence etc.

It's hard to be confident, but if we do step up a gear then this Stormers side have some weaknesses that we can exploit.

So, with that, let me sit back and prepare to field questions later on how we conceded 50 points again...

How can this be improved under Blackett? He has been employed as a backs & skills coach. Those 2 aspects come down to the defence coach.

My point is exactly that, a Priestland in poor form is in the Welsh squad, tells you everything about the form of every Welsh qualified 10 at the regions and more specifically the 2 in our squad for tonight.

OK then. I just thought he would tap in to Blackett in areas we aren't that sharp in. I know I would. Backs have been very passive in defense at times.

Wasn't he Seren y Gem in his last match for Cardiff?
