welsh labour have far too much of a free reign in wales
we need healthy competition or they will continue to take the mickey out of the working people What is their popularity in wales based on? The economy is in the toilet ? The NHS waiting lists are behind the rest of UK in most areas Record waiting lists , lowest GDP in the UK (almost times per head poorer than Ireland) did we handle covid better ? No Town centres all boarded up recod high council taxes Their defence .....oh but were better than the tories anyone is better than those crooks but it doesnt make welsh labour any good either we need healthy competition

You are right, welsh labour does need more opposition at the senydd, whether that could be achieved by increasing the size of the senydd by more than 50% is up for debate. What isn’t up for debate is the fact that their new 20mpg ruling is likely to help even out the numbers at the senydd, such is the feeling of anger with the public.
The irony is that for welsh labour to prosper they need a labour Westminster government, yet some of the WAG policies run a huge risk of alienating the welsh voters.

I hear what Roy Munster is saying above, and share his frustration about the way things are.
I am too, frustrated, particularly when I look at Llanelli, my town, and what its become. An interesting point, and illustration of where we are, was the Michael Portillo programme travelling around the UK (and Europe) by train, this week from Port Talbot to Pembrey .I don't like the pompous Portillo, but I like the programme , travelling by train. He stopped at Mumbles, Gowerton, but not even a passing mention of Llanelli, despite the fact that huge areas have been reclaimed from industrialisation, and is now a wonderful coastal journey from Lougher. Where Roy and differ, is that I don't feel that WAG can be blamed for all of this. I am no mouthpiece or apologist for WAG, AND THEY HAVE MADE MISTAKES, but A LEVEL OF BALANCE IS REQUIRED IN UNDERSTANDINGOUR our PLIGHT AS A GEOGRAPHOICL REGION ON THE PERIPHERY OF EVERYTHING. Regarding the economy, Roy is right, our GDP, is lower than where it could be , but there are so many factors that decide this. Whatever interventions the WAG attempt they are limited by fiscal restrictions. We in Wales, do not have the devolved powers of Scotland, and I have long argued that the Barnett formula, as it stands , is not serving Wales well, we need and alternative to this to ensure Wales has a level playing field. Failing this there could instead be tax raising powers for Welsh government to properly administer its business. I would be happy with a change either way. The consistent failure of successive UK governments to invest in the infrastructure of Wales, has ensured that relative poverty remains in a fair proportion of Wales regions. The knock on effect of this is twofold . Firstly it hits economic output, and with a generally in demographic terms, an elderly population, the strain of the NHS local and national ,is severe, as social deprivation goes hand in hand with poor health Only central government, has the economic clout to make the substantial changes to our economy, that are needed. There was a perfect opportunity a few years ago, when a new Swansea bay barrage was proposed. As long as sensitive environmental concerns were addressed, we had the opportunity to build a sustainable, clean, renewable energy, creating thousands of jobs in construction in the process. What did the UK government do ..pull the plug ! Today's announcement by slippery Sunak, a man that make a doggy second hand car salesman look like a Tibetan monk, is just incredible. While others in the US, and across Europe, forge ahead with radical green economic investment programmes, the UK, typically lags behind. The DBS (dept for budget responsibility has predicted zero growth for the next two years), and that sadly the way it will stay. Sunak after the Uxbridge bi -election has seen, in his eyes, a window of opportunity, but such short termism has even taken some Tories by surprise leave alone the opposition An essential part of the Welsh economy has for years been Tata steel in Port Talbot, not just for the town of Port Talbot itself, for for the whole region, and the knock on effect it has on a multitude of other business . It has been clear that the carbon footprint of the arc furnaces had to change, and investment was needed. Indeed what has been announced is welcome , but not at the loss of so many jobs , and the consequences for so many families. Why TATA and the UK government could not have had ongoing discussions going back years, regarding phasing out gradually the current arc furnaces, is mind boggling. With leadership like this it wouldn't matter who was leading WAG, we wouldn't stand a chance. Moving on to local government, I am not surprised that Birmingham council has gone bust. They have made some poor decisions regarding IT, and have had to settle a costly equal pay dispute. Birmingham are only the tip of the iceberg, many other councils up and down the country, currently cutting back and services and budgets will follow suit. These are run not just by labour, but Tory, nationalist and independent(as in Carms). Why did this happen, because under the auspices of austerity, George Osborne, the then chancellor cut he rate support grant, leaving many local authorities in freefall and having to make savage cuts. Osborne was happy to attempt to place the burden of austerity on the poorest while his mates, and some of the richest got away scot free, with the "mansion tax" , not even considered. Is it any wonder therefore that we see shops in Llanelli and other places boarded up. I have been hugely critical of Carmarthenshire CC, for allowing Trostre pk to develop in the first place, It has contributed to the absolute death knell of out town centre. schemes however which Carms had planned to regenerate the town centre , and introduce social housing in station rd, are on permanent hold, because quite simply there are no funds in the coffers. to compound that , information I have had from my brother in law, who formerly was a senior figure in Carms highways dept, is that budgets for roadwork improvement have been slashed, so potholes are the least of our worries ! Regarding health, WAG has certainly made some errors, like taking the appalling Betsi Cadwaladr health trust out of special measures , after so many failures. This should never have happened. it is difficult however to make make cold calculating assessment in comparing different regions performance, due to the wholescale differentiation of the social make up of thf the regions and subsequent communities. Parts of wales have chronic ill heath , some of it due to our industrial past, and some due to poor living conditions and diet. My wife and her family worked in the NHS, and we know that its struggling now more than at any time in its history, with morale at rock bottom, thanks to the shameful treatment by this Tory government. New funding formulas will have to be found, because, one thing is for sure, things can not carry on as they are now. Finally Covid..yes Roy WAG DID handle this better than in in England. Whatever you may say of Drakeford, he was a model of calm common sense and consistency. Decisions were taken sensibly with the emphasis on caution Contrast that to Johnson, who locked the country down too late, ignored advice from SAGE, his scientific advisors, and THEN , broke his own rules by partying. Are you suffering from amnesia ROY ? End of the day whatever tinkering WAG makes, nothing will significantly change until we kick this corrupt slippery gangster and his Tory sidekick cretins in to touch, for a long time. Even when that happens an incoming Labour government will have( to a degree) its hands tied in economic terms ,until we can get the county moving again with greater growth and investment. Its going to be a long and rocky road |

Have you watched the Laura Kuessberg series about the government. It was suggesting that some of the Tory Government were so concerned by the way they were handling the pandemic, and in particular the lockdown/s and the way that the party were continuing as normal, that they wanted the Queen to intervene (but she refused).
At least there was a consistent and calm approach from the WAG and the Scottish parliament.

Spot on Legend, whatever your party politics, its been universally accepted that WAG's approach to,pandemic as was Scotland was the right one Drakeford was calm, sensible and consistent . Contrast that to Johnson. He and Trump we two peas out if the same pod. Moving on Kuensberg highlighted the remergance of Truss, bouncing up and down, as are the others on the far right of the Tory party for Sunak ditching his current commitment to environment policy. I have just listened to a radio interview with Zac Goldsmith, was a former Tory MP, and government cabinet minister for climate change. He was saying that large numbers of Toty mp's are unhappy with Sunak, not just on climate, but are loathed to speak out. Many know, they have no chance of being re-elected under a brazen political opportunistic character like Sunak, with no values. It was a stunning interview.

Irelands GDP per head is $104,000 wales is $29000 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Lets just absorb that staggering figure, we are dirt poor and every decision the WAG is passing is making things worse and worse and worse and will eventually hit every single one of us Wales did NOT handle covid better , in fact our infection rates and death rates were worse. The man in charge vaughan gethin broke his own lockdown rules too. We wasted millions on unused nightingale hospitals. How many patients did the scarlets get in the barn hospital in the years it was open ? NONE ZERO. We also send old folks back to care homes. Forgive me but what did we do better? Nothing Im quite aware maggie destroyed our industries and boris was a liar in chief and the tories are vile self serving chisselers. None of that is new news. I want them out as desperately as you and most others. The lies the spin the double talk. the back door privatisatin of the NHS. The corporate greed, corruption in the home office the list is endless. And yes theres no getting away from the fact these macro issues affect all our micro issues in wales My concern here is what are we in wales and llanelli doing about it? Nothing. In fact were making it all worse. The fact labour have run llanelli forever and wales forever really does suggest they too have some responsibility for the mess we are in Our net zero UK emissions target was 5 years stricter than most other countries in the world It was absudly unrealistic and inflexible. Are these politicians aware the working people have had to deal with brexit, covid, cst of living , mass inflation in the last few years and now this? Do you honestly believe the UK can scrap all petrol diesel and hybryd cars in 6 years and 3 months Do you honestly believe the whole world can go to electric cars soon? What about lithium wars and lithium mines destroying regions and causing mass pollution ? What about the carbon footprint of millins of charging points and millions of dead batteries? Not to forget the expense and unreliabilty of the cars to average joe? Why couldnt we compromise and keep hybrid cars the actual difference in emission is less than 20% thats before we talk about lithium wars, mines , dead batteries , charging points. These career politicians dont even engage their brains on this anymore they just try to look like they care more than anyone for cheap votes or green peace people have gotten away with preaching their unrealistic mantra for long enough. They do not have any moral high ground either. Its high time the theory the ideology met with real world practicality. They need to engage in the finer points or are they just going to carry on just chucking eggs and stopping people going to work? As for the WAG all their policies have made pollution and congestion worse, from scrapping congestion roads, to endless pot holes and speed bumps, blanket 20mph with incorrect speed signs, endless parking fees in town centres, but none in retail parks where land was given away....public land sld dirt cheap way below market value? etc More exhaust emmissions more tyre emmissions from braking ....Even going as far back as allowing towns to be destroyed for out of town retail parks. How do we get to them ? Cars. Theres never a new train route and barely any bus routes to them. Heck trostre hasnt even got a taxi rank. Pathetic Their response? Blame the daily mail Why arent they targetting methane pollution and mass over prduction of supermarket giants as for dangerous speeds what of the new trains travelling nearly 200 mph will planes be slowed down too? Incidentally the govt always like to preach safety and punish businesses to raise their own revenues. Ever wondered why public transprt doesnt actually have seat belts? Record NHS waiting lists, NHS trusts not fit for purpose, are whistle blowers still being pushed ut of their jobs? Job centres that dont advertise jobs, drugs rife , alcohlism rife, social services at war with the NHS over funding every day. why not merge the 2 as they did in scotland? The more we pay the less we get. Heck theres not even public toilets anymore but youll get a big fine for doing it behind a bush......Theyve even ruined our only airport ![]() No lets not question anything as wales becomes a 3rd world country lets all just blindly worship at the alter of drakeford and waters Edited by roy munster - 21 September 2023 at 2:41pm |

Kuensberg is a Tory plant she's appalling, her Sunday morning farce is a lick balling session.....Victoria Derbyshire is an absolute gem, proper journalist who wants answers to questions she asks and won't back down. Shapps crapped himself knowing he was being interviewed last Sunday instead of lick baller, she tore him apart and was lovely to watch. Yet again the main stream media didn't report on.the huge March to end Brexit, this Country has lost its soul . And the Daily Mail is as harmful to opinions as FOX news is in America. |

Nope. In 2020 he flouted the lock down rules despite exhorting the public to stay indoors. There was also a question mark raised about his ownership of a 3rd property. I believe he claimed that his residence was in Shropshire despite the fact that his children were schooled in London and that his wife had their London home registered as her place of work.

Roy and I have clear disagreements on WAG, traffic restrictions, and the way forward regarding environmental policies. I am always happy to hear what he has to say however. My wife has been unwell, so consequently has drained my powers of concentration, so hopefully he can excuse me ATM for not replying, just yet, to the above. There are lots we do agree on, obviously the scarlets, and secondly, getting rid of the Tories ASAP. I also agree with what he has said about Trostre park. Its been the death Knell of the town. Carmarthen, and to a a degree, Neath have been able to maintain a semblance of identity in their town centres , and therefore encourages people to visit. I am incredibly sad about the centre of Llanelli, it depresses me

To add what also depresses me , is listening to the latest utterances from the hideous, apology for a human being Suella Braverman !
Clearly, this is just a " photo opportunity " , knowing that in less than a year , if Sunak has to ' fall on his own sword ' and resign . The far right are looking for a champion, ahn therefore Braverman will become their " darling". Unfortunately for her and her party, it could backfire, with senior Tories allready questioning her wisdom ....the "nasty party is back".! We know it's difficult to stop all boats, as traffickers are becoming skilled at avoiding detection. We also know that it's impossible to accommodate all those wish to cross the chanel. Young single men , economic migrants, could feasibly be given short term visas , to plug the gap when there are critical labour shortages, particularly seasonal work. The processing is the issue, as border control ATM, do not have sufficient trained staff. One we know who is coming and from where, its always easier to make an informed decision . One thing I do know for sure, is that the Home Office is making it incredibly difficult for those wishing to enter the UK through legal chanels. The net result is that it us driving many desperate people in to the hands if heartless traffickers , and with winter looming, how many more lives will be lost in the increasingly riugh seas. SIckening comment therefore from Braverman, that her parents arrived in the UK, through legal channels. Many people I have talked to , and in my barber , run by a Syrian who fled assad regime, we have an Iranian, Libyan,as well as Welsh staff. They all tell me that things are terrible where they have come from, and you speak out for fear of your life . The owners cousin ended up in one of assad jails, never to be seen again, and his father's house lays in ruins, his business, once thriving, finished! Political oppression, goes hand in hand with exploitation, and the vulnerable, in places with low tolerance level , so if your a woman in countries like Afghanistan, or if you are gay' in many, you are in jeopardy.Children are often used as commodities, either as drug mules, or for sex. This is a shocking world we are living in. I have massivly increased my monthly donation to British Red Cross, and wonderful organisation that does so so much for those in need, both in this country and abroad. They send me e 'mails of the work they are doing, in so many places. Volunteers are putting their lives in the line in places like Ukraine, and some parts are quite dangerous . If I was'nt looking after my wife, I would most definitely volunteer and try , even in a tiny way, to make a difference . The harrowing stories I read, from Red Cross touch my heart, and you feel helpless, particularly when it involves children . To therefore hear the words of that heartless, harlot and political opportunistic cretin Braverman, ( who almost makes Pritti Patel look kind), leaves me frustrated and very annoyed, that a woman like this, has aspired to a position of such power and influence . Hopefully, for not to much longer

The way to cut asylum seekers . Refugees, economic migrants os to make life better in the countries they are leaving. Goodness know how though , there is a huge shortage of food health care housing and education in these plAces. Not to mention huge levels of corruption and hardships most of us will never know hopefully none pf us. Places like afgan and libya are a nightmare but places like burundi and mAwali are even worse
