Nope.

As long as they don't neglect anything that should be given higher priority than the billingual programme.

Unfortunately I fear this may not be the case.

On whose part? The WM or the AMs making the proposition during these tough financial times?

Wales has got over 30% poorer since the assembly came into being. we are in double dip recession, yet the assembly announced over 6% rises in costs this past week

Regarding the welsh language, is there a website where one can go to learn for free? As there is for many other languages in the world. If not, why not?

Meanwhile the olympic games jamboree in the east end will cost the tax payer in 2 weeks, almost the equivalent of the entire annual budget of the welsh assembly for a whole country.

Meanwhile grass roots sports lose out and the cost of living rises and the wages stagnate.

So as you can see theres a whole load of problems and very few politicians doing the right things to improve them

I think the main issue with the article was the language used. Questioning whether to spend £400k on translation was fair enough but the line "bilingualism is a luxury we can't afford" is just down right offensive.

Not at all sure where you get this figure.

Two things are certain: the Barnett funding formula (introduced in the late 1960s, I think) is no longer fit for purpose, and disadvantages Wales significantly in terms of the funding received from central government (conversely, it advantages Scotland). Even Barnett himself says the basis for funding should be changed and updated!

Secondly, if the Tories get their way over regional pay for civil servants, Wales will become even poorer - and the South of England will become even richer.

To those who have, shall be given...

Im pretty sure there was no extra copies sold with so many welsh speakers boycotting the paper because of the article.

many people now have different reasons for boycotting the paper. this is just another one for more people.
