Unless he's retired from international rugby and has signed as a lock then it's a waste of vital resources.

On another site saw that it works out to £30,000 a match for him.

Im sure someone worked out what Liam costs per minute based on salary versus minutes played. It was eye-wayering.

Blade owes us a couple of big seasons, in terms of performance and minutes played.

All we can do is support him and his health. Let’s see Blade get a good run and have a fist of it.

When he is motoring he is good. Plenty of performances where he has put in the work. He wouldn’t have been selected by Scotland if he wasn’t. I’ll have this over just losing him to the likes of Glasgow or Edinburgh and then trying to fill the void with anyone.

But yes fitness/health is of key concern.

Why
A couple of centres/ fast winger, a tight head, two locks and an open side is the minimum we need.
She asks why i still can't answer. I guess its in the blood.

His days with Scotland may be coming to an end, I agree. Hopefully, that means we see more of him.

Like others, I find it a bit underwhelming though. For the money, he's not had the impact of Sione, Parkes, Barclay or Beirne. Not all his fault though and he could do good things for us in the future.

I doubt whether we'll hear a great deal more on  player recruitment. I'll be horrified if we don't hear more coaching appointments.
What's going on?

Thing is, Blade is really good. I know no one is saying he isn’t but if we had signed an unfamiliar international-calibre back rower who can cover lock we’d be really excited.

Just because he hasn’t put a run of games together for us yet, doesn’t mean he won’t be able to get a run together for us over his next contract extension.

I’m looking forward to seeing him in a P16 with fewer international clashes

Don't think Blade offers us anything more than we get from Shingler. Would have preferred to have kept Kennedy as value for money and offering us a bit more physicality going forward and in defence.

Why is blade going to turn his back on the glanour glory and riches of test rugby? No chance as talented as he is with his injury record and test call ups not a vfm signing for me

I'm suggesting, with no absolute knowledge, why would we retain a NWQ player (for a home nation) with an injury record that is above the norm...?
Could we have built in his international non-availability as a term for an extension?
I'd also ask this, if he's out of contract and a Scotland international, why haven't Edinburgh or Glasgow come in for him, could it be they don't see the him in the Scotland set up in the future?

All speculation....

If we get the guy we signed 2 years ago next season, then it would be superb.

Hope so Steff, squad does need a few additions.
Really do hope we see a fit Blade playing for us. He's been very unlucky with injuries. Do hope he has given up test rugby and gives his all for us.
He is certainly a class operator when firing
