Dan Jones doing two jobs, as a linesman and for us at ten, should keep him busy. Might get some favourable calls as well.

The primary reason why Jake moved on.

Life in Australia is relatively good too it must be said.

If so that is a factor in his (non) selection I guess.

I strongly suspect Asquith's departure is at least in part due to his non-selection, as opposed to his departure being the reason for his non-selection. I could be wrong.

It’s also his partners call. Life outside Australia for an Australian is not as attractive these days.

Very true - Hadleigh Parkes recently gave a very good insight of the sacrifices family members have to make to support a full time professional athlete especially in these covid times. Young families benefit from having the support of family who in many instances are thousands of miles away.

So does Ball...?

Ball has been first choice for years. I don’t recall Asquith ever being first choice. No disrespect to the guy as he’s never let us down.

Morning Peter - it will be tough and physical up front so our front 5 have to get parity and discipline will be key. Our front five selected is strong so we are in with a shout.
its just a pity pieter  is leaving  the scarlets. He was just on short term contract. He loves being with scarlets
He wasn't offered an extension? That's a shame. We do seem to be trimming the squad for next season though.
We're still still here!

As someone has already mentioned the midfield selection continues to be very muddled. Foxy should have started at 13 surely - he may have lost some pace but he is still much quicker than Steff. Putting Foxy on the bench then compromises our replacements because we have no natural cover for a wing who gets injured. The sensible solution would seem Foxy at 13 Asquith at 23.

Surely the non selection of Asquith has nothing to do with him leaving - it doesn't stop the coaches selecting Ball & Jac.

Fox was top notch against France, and made a couple of breaks which were not supported well by Biggar and other team mates, on the inside.   Always a top big game player.

One of the constant stream of head scratchers from this staff which has not produced a winning season.

I'd have had Asquith, who is really talented,  to start @13 with Williams/JD at 12, benching the non-starter. Hughes is a decent enough Pro-14 player but , I believe, 4th choice behind these. However, the coach obviously thinks he is better than Asquith or  JD.  JD no longer has the gas at 13 but he showed he's still very effective at the top level at 12.
Hard to disagree with your opinion. Puzzle why Asquith is seldom in the equation.

Every time Asquith comes on he adds something. He’s dynamic and a game changer, rarely prone to gaffes. He can’t buy a seat for whatever reason!
