Customers shopping around online and moving to cheaper firms may be the way forward

Ive flipped from edf to a utility warehouse , they appear to be the cheapest and a whopping 40% lower
compare the market and a few others give you the cheapest supplier, just type in your name address and 5 days later new supplier...need to either clear your old balance first though or set up a payment pan with old supplier to clear debt

Basically, the government has used our money as taxpayers to pay for advice on how to save energy, instead of doing something about the cost.

Prices go up - energy companies make billions in unexpected and undeserved profits - government refuses to bring in a proper 'windfall tax' and pussyfoots around the margins.

That is where we are at.

Sir, I'm determined not to pay these companies any more than I am already....we are making conscious efforts to turn everything off and other ideas, thankyou for this thread, I do have a small home so it's not that difficult but I do feel for bigger homes with lots of children and their costs.

What is clear is the Country seriously needs to do something to the government and get the power companies to drop their prices...the price of gas has plummeted......and that should be reflected in the charge...its a joke

In light of the the worsening crisis , thought it could be beneficial for all to have a thread with tips, suggestions, contact numbers of helplines and so on
Its all common sense stuff really but good to concentrate on these little percents it all helps

Weve started by stopping using the tumble dryer, turned all heaters and lights and switches off in rooms were not in, brackets on radiators to help fit more clothes to dry....big whistle kettle to put on the oven, save endlessly boiling the kettle.....amazing how much energy kettles use....Put boiler and hot water on a timer....Washing machines on lower heat and certain powders are better for lower temperature washing...use dish washer a bit less, get my marigolds on lol.....draught excluders, closing more doors, windows...close your curtains/binds/drapes at nightThumbs Up
Go a step further insulate your house, ring the council to see if you have get free solar panels...what havent the majority had these rolled out yet? Surely on a mass scale this is the future?
Few helplines offering support
