George North was exposed for 2 of the French tries, his defence has always been suspect, on the wing you can use the touchline as a defender, but there is no hiding in the centre, as you can be exposed both inside and outside.
Williams did well when he came on as did Jenkins, but we are very weak in the front row - this is explained in the fact that Dillon Lewis earned his 50th cap, he probably wouldn’t have earned 10 caps if he was representing the other home nations.
Biggar was solid at 10, but didn’t offer anything offensively, in what is likely to be his last nations start, Webb was solid too, again in what is likely to be his last 6 nations match, and likewise it was nice for halfpenny to score with the last kick of the game.
After the World Cup we need to rebuild completely, basing the team around the likes of DewinLake, Dafydd Jenkins, Chris T, Reffell, LRZ and our very own Jonny Williams.
The World Cup is only 6 months away so we won’t see manned changes in the squad and the game plan.

I agree the general sentiments  on SF tonight  regarding the French game. I was expecting a real hammering  ,on lines of what happened  in Twickenham,  last week.In fact all the away teams Italy,Wales and England,  did better than expected.Italy could have even snatched  it, at the end.Pleased for Ireland , particularly  to shut up the awful biased Dallaglio and Woodward.
Legend correctly identifies a spine of  players whom could form the nucleus  of a future Wales team post WC.
In the meantime North  must revert back to wing, as indicated  above has defensive issues, but is such a powerful carrier,we are sadly lacking. LRZ also revert to wing,  if sanjay us fit.Adams seems to gone back,  puzzling !
Johnny  will surely  be a candidate  for 12,but who plays 13..Probably Grady.?Half back could see the return of Anscombe,  who offers more than Bigger as an attacking pivot. I reckon Cawdor could challenge Webb, if he continues  his good form.
Up front, Lake  and Rowlands will return ,and with the relaxing of the 60 camp rule Could see the return of Hill and Ball.?
Otherwise,  I cannot see many changes  until after WC.

BTW, how many caps does Rowlands have?

Is it enough to be selected for the RWC from Paris?

Better than I expected but that doesn't say a lot. Good comments from fellow posters about the squad make up. I would say that there are a number of Scarlets players who have a big chance to impress in the knock out games of the Challenge Cup. I would list the following - Wainwright at tight head - may seem a bit out there to some but this boy is improving all the time under Franks' tutelage. Francis offers nothing compared to most modern day props; Lewis is OK & Brown can't stay fit.

Cawdor & Costelow are now our first choice starters and offer something different to the current incumbants. JBR Williams if he stays fit and keeps playing like the Edinburgh game for me is a shoe in to start at 12. Tompkins as usual looked very busy but what is the end result - nothing - can't distribute, lacks bulk to carry and is totally dodgy in defence - his attempt to tackle Ntamack in the lead up to the first French try was farcical. At 13 Joe Roberts with a strong finish to the season could put himself in the squad alongside Grady. Joe at the moment is a better defender than Grady in that 13 channel. North should only be considered as a wing and I expect some experienced back 3 players will miss out. At the moment Adams look shaky & it may well be that contract uncertainty has badly affected him.

Thanks Hoppy.

If the limit is 25, how can he make the RWC, then, even though everyone wats him there?

If he's fit for the Summer int's he'll make it. Otherwise, Gatland can apply for dispensation from the PRB. I wonder if they might be sympathetic given the circumstances.

Rowlands is due back in April I believe. Gats will get him into the warm up games for sure. Rowlands, Ball & Hill would add a huge amount to that pack. I thought Wainwright carried well & he looks our natural replacement for Faletau unless/until Carwyn starts to impose his impressive physical attributes throughout big games.

The thought of Tschiunza ( regardless of what 1963 may say) Jac Morgan & Carwyn forming a Welsh back row is quite tasty. We need to find two modern day props - we have a few lads at PYS who are making very good progress - Kemlsey & Wainwright with the O'Connor brothers as back up.

A decent shout to back up JBR. If Gats treats the World Cup as the end of the road for his older boys before preparing in earnest for the future & 2027 then he could have a decent chance of making a quarter final which may well be against Argentina or England who are certainly not unbeatable.

Gats will probably put Rowlands on the bench for a 30 second cap or two, even if it meant he hopped onto the pitch on one leg, just to get to the 25 cap safety mark.

Whose player is he when those summer matches happen? Racing’s?

Lake elias  nauvidi rowlands hill and ball would certainly give us some more depth in the pack,  williams and roberts could figure in the centre cawdor an option at 9 not much else outside of squad tbh
