Still chuckling at how ridiculous it was Ireland weren’t in green. 142 years of competition and now they decide it’s not fair on colour blind people. Welcome to the 21st century.

A step in the right direction I would say, can't believe it took them so long to be honest. For anyone who remembers watching on black and white televisions, Wales v Ireland games were a nightmare - had to hope one played in black shorts or maybe the tops of one teams socks were white.

Actually I’m with SA14 on this one Rob

I’d have made the shorts different maybe, but the shirt is a bit sacred in my view.

Good point Wil, happy to concede the point,  I never thought about the shorts option (even though I alluded to it in my post about back in the black and white TV days Embarrassed).

Bayern Munich had to play a home game in their away strip last week because UEFA said the letter writing was the wrong colour for colour blind people.

It's just how it is.

delighted with the improved performance and the general rise in hwly-ness...Big smile is that even a word?

Onto the jocks next....same side or a few changes? Ill have to rewatch the irish game first as i didnt see it all from inside the stadium lol but my gut feeling is maybe 1 change with wainwright back in at  to carry ball...Not sure about inside centre too? will thomas stay or will james come in to add power over the gain line?

I love this post
In 1972, Roy Bergiers scored that try and said "that was for you lofty"

Not going to criticise players but a more powerful 12 would improve the backline.

Yes, everyone has one as first receiver off first phase, and in fact Aki coming on proved that.

I wonder if this rule is applied when Ireland or Wales play, say, Samoa or Tonga.

These are the things that linger in my mind...

I watched the whole match again yesterday, was sitting in the lower tier on Saturday so don’t really notice where the spaces are etc.
First of all, the atmosphere was amazing on Saturday in the stadium, the anthem sent shivers down my spine and the singing and cheering on of the welsh team was deafening at times.
I said before hand that if we scored a try or two from open play it would have been an improvement, but to score 2 from open play and to come within a finger tip of a third was just an incredibly turnaround, especially when you consider that Ireland are ranked 1 in the world and have one of the tightest defences in the game.
Sheratt need a lot of credit, he picked players in their right positions (even Ben Thomas looked good) and also picked combinations that are very comfortable with each other.  More importantly he got them playing off the cuff stuff and entertaining the crowd.
The usually very confident and cocky Irish knew that they were in a serious match, choosing to take the points on offer over kicking to the corner and backing their catch and drive ability.
To be fair to the Irish though, the quality of their bench saw them over the line.  Aki was immense and James Ryan added to their already impressive carrying game.
For Scotland I wouldn’t make too many changes (injury permitting), the team certainly deserve another opportunity to show what they can do, bearing in mind that they only had 3 training sessions.
Whilst I agree that most sides have a bigger 12, I’d be tempted to keep the backline the same but maybe swap Thomas and Llewelyn around, depending on the situation, as having that extra kicking option outside the 10 is vital and Thomas is our only other place kicker.
I’m really looking forward to seeing what this team can do with a further 2 weeks preparation time.

Plus the Tomos Williams fumble of Jac Morgan’s pass for a run in try.

Imo, he has a face that’s great for poker. His expression rarely changes that much. Concentration and focus shine through. His change of pace, direction and deception ahead of contact is terrific.

It’d be perfectly understandable to be nervous, of course, it’s just that I think it might be some TV commentators seeing him for the first time and not knowing what to expect so judging by everyone else’s reactions rather than his own..
Tellingly, it was the first time many `fans` in the ground had ever seen him play. Speaks volumes for the issues we have in welsh rugby.

As a neutral it was a good game to watch, I tipped Wales to get a lift, shame about the no try on the left in the last quarter, could have changed the game. Onwards and upwards lads 'n' lassies..
