Head coach Steve Tandy said: "Ellis had played well in the opening couple of rounds, so we feel he deserves the opportunity again."

Confusing comment from Tandy there.

If he was so good in the first two games. why drop him?

Confusing on Mee for sure.

Good to see Hennessey on the bench. Not so much Beard. Would've been tempted by a 6/2 split though.

The rest as expected really.

Reading the BBC feed, had forgotten that Hawkins and James played 12 and 13 for the U20s for two seasons... maybe this is genuinely a combination we can build on for club and country.

I haven't seen Hennesey play so not sure he should be there in place of Grady or a few others.

I'm just happy he's kept largely the same team together, especially the midfield - I said before I don't agree with the selections but I also don't think constantly chopping and changing helps at all, so James at 13 isn't ideal for a 12, but at least its his 4th test in a row there and 3rd with Hawkins inside him.

Shame Sam got injured, he was on fire vs Scotland and when he came off Wales looked a lot worse, but at least his performance shook things up and you'd hope Edwards/Evans both feel like they need to step up their game now at 10

I agree with the starting pack, two hard working tackling locks and 3 6s in the back row will bolster the Wales defense, something they will be doing a lot of on Saturday. I can understand beard and Cracknell on the bench, with Wainwright struggling he may not last the 80 and Beard provides lineout cover if Jenkins is injured.
The backs, I am concerned about. Still not sure about LRZ at 15, I would have thought Mee or Rogers should be groomed for that shirt. Hawkins and Edwards are both weak defenders and Wales have Eddie, a specialist 12 playing at 13. I expect Ireland to target Wales midfield all afternoon.

I think Rees-Zammit will be an international for hopefully 2 more world cups so I'm happy for him to be 15 with the expectation that he gets better.

Mee shouldn’t have been dropped last week.

That made no sense.

This weekend Grady is left out for Hennesey and that doesn't make sense for me.

Hennesey will get a 5 min cap which will tie him to Wales, sensible move.
I cant see Wales beating Ireland in Dublin so the must win games were Scotland (close but no win) and Italy. So unlikely to see any cheap caps awarded next week.

We struggle with carriers in the forwards. It’s Wainwright and Carre. Beyond that, nobody stands out.

Farrell has been very kind in his selection. McCarthy starts if he serious about winning & Sheehan has been given the day off completely. Lets face it Farrell correctly realises that Scotland is his big game remaining.

Since the naming of the teams, Wales have moved out to 25/1 from 16's.

Tandy tombola once more - centres still wrong for me, James 12 and someone (Hennessy/Watkin? ) outside. Mee back in after his random pick of Hamer-Webb last game. Edwards to start after being nowhere last game...Beard back in the fold ...it goes on.
What's going on?

Edwards is a defensive mess.

In 1972, Roy Bergiers scored that try and said "that was for you lofty"

"All you have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us"
