Have the girls improved since their inception...probably not.
I am as frustrated  and disappointed as the next person.
If however it was based on results  and we dispense with pro contracts for women,  in a parallel situation,  there wouldn't  be a region in Wales left standing...particularly  the Dragons.
There needs to be massive  improvement  all round, but keep,it in perspective. B
Did you think the crowd seemed to be enjoying themselves? I got the impression they were, like they seemed to be when Wales lost to England. Realistically it'll take a long time to complete with the likes of England with their player pool and financial resources...but if the crowds seem to be enjoying themselves none the less, is this ok?

I think women’s rugby supporters comprise a lot of females who follow them on instagram and tik Tok. That’s not a disparaging remark by the way. Some of those woman have thousands of followers and that’s the audience they attract.
Actually SA, your right, Maher ( a former teamate of my daughter  ), at Bristol.
There was more about Tik Tok etc, etc than her actual impact on the field.
I watched her carefully in several games , and she will admit herself,  there is a lot of the game she is still learning. Amazing social  media follow  however.
It's what young people enjoy LOL
I was surprised by the extent of this loss but we have to keep going with Women’s rugby. You can see in the fans a different bunch of fans- lots of young women and families. We need to meet their needs and hopefully to get them more interested in the men’s game as well, lifting the profile of rugby as a sport in Wales. The Italians sadly were too strong for us and looked fitter ( perhaps just my perception) . A number of big dynamic young black women from the old Italian colonial world as well added to their mix. We have a lot to do .A nice money sponsor would be nice as well.

reesytheexile..at one time just a connection on scarletfever...   NOW, just like GPR Rochester,  I regard as a valued friend.
This is what rugby can do , bring people together irrespective  of the disappointment  we sometimes feel  regards performance.
Rugby is nowxa family, and an inclusive  FOR EVERYONE.
At one time,  Instood on the tanner bank at stradey , and it was almost exclusively  a male enclave, where you could swear , or  do as you like. Great camaraderie  of course and wonderful  humour.. but things have CHANGED.
WE now see large  numbers of women  supporters abd children ( a family of five sits in front of me).
At a difficult time, even with hard decisions  to be made, we need to everyone possible  " in the tent". Rugby is a family to embrace  all, which is why lo ve it, and a microcosm of the Society  we now live in.
My daughter is no longer in the Welsh camp, but I am hurting badly  regarding performance,  which I deem unacceptable.
Sean Lynn has a job on his hands, but we the public need to continue to be supportive.
Who would ever want to kill a young girls dream. My daughter chased hers and while it lasted it was amazing. We are a small nation, and moving forward, at whatever level,  we need to continue to support each other
The road  may be rocky ahead, but we need to keep going.
To use the m9ttom9f the Welsh football  team...
" TOGETHER  STRONGER"

Well said Mark . We just have to embrace diversity for the wider good of the sport of rugby in Wales! I wish the new coach the best of luck in his very challenging role.

A neighbours daughter plays for Bristol too and it was an interesting insight into female rugby listening to her.

Don’t know what it’s got to do with diversity rugby is a sport for everyone is a very inclusive game that other sports could learn from.
I realise that the women’s game has only been professional for a few years and I for one have enjoyed watching the games.
Really sad to see the Welsh team struggling a few years ago they looked as though they were breaching  the gap unfortunately that gap has got wider.
I will probable be pilloried for saying it but a lot of the Welsh girls do seem to be a lot bigger this year.
Have they been told to bulk up or is it a fitness issue.
If I’m wrong I apologise and please it’s nothing to do with them being ladies but I only will call it as I see it.
I have called out male players on occasions who seem to have fitness issues just to make that point.

She asks why i still can't answer. I guess its in the blood.

our women are suffering the same problem as our men. we seen physically out matched at test level. they are physically over  matched,  surprising as many are playing in the prem and that is a very good leauge. the ladies need a summer of s and c  or else they will get blown away at the test level, fitness and power do seem an issue for them

A lot of the woman have talked about how they've now gone professional they have been targeting putting on muscle and weight and have also talked about the issues this causes with their own body image and men's reactions (Gwen Crabb for example).

In terms of playing in the English league - a lot are on the clubs books but they don't play as much as we'd like.

For example, Gloucester Hartbury have 12 Welsh players on their books. But when you start looking at the players they are up against in their positions, or start looking at the minutes they get, the picture is not as rosy. They are maybe 6 or 7 of the Wales best 15 who are regular starters for their English clubs.

Very good points made above.
Wales lost the physical contest v Ireland , particularly  disappointing..the set piece. Again against  Italians won most 50 / 50's against us and completely  outskilled Wales, moving the ball with fluency  and confidence.
Neither  if those happened in the past( other than last year in Ireland)and Wales have beaten Italy two years on the bounce.

It's a fine balance to prepare yourself ( and the team) to,compete physically, without ignoring  the fact rugby is also a skillful game.
Wales under Ioan Cunningham ( no direct criticism of him) scored so many tries from driving line outs 5 metres from the line.  The static , stodgy game has continued,  but I have sympathy  with  Lynn, because ye has to work wih the players he has.
As Elinor Snowsill pointed out , there is not much depth ATM, so we need to maximise the resources we have and make use them better.

Terrific win for the Wales women down in Australia.( 12-21).

A real boost with RWC coming up next month.

Very deserved too. The Welsh 15 ( Nel Metcalfe) looks a great prospect.

Big improvement on show from Wales Women. A big shout out for Maisie Davies who at 19 played 70 minutes at loose head. Maisie's grandparents will be rightly proud. They are stalwarts of the fever tours so extra special for me.

Only managed to see the highlights. Thought the whole game would’ve been on IPlayer by 8am but sadly not.

a from the limited highlights it looked like a great improvement in all areas.

It looked a bit of a challenge as Australia started well. But Wales had the better of the last hour. Coped well defensively and scored some nice tries. Australia huffed and puffed but no line breakers.

Wales’ pool in the RWC includes Canada, Scotland and Fiji.

Canada are very good but Wales can build on this and hope to win the other 2games.
