Would like to know the views on tonight's game  NZ v FR?

French flair from Penaud, etc was clear for all to see, but what won them the game was the discipline.
small number of pens given away, in comparison to NZ.
Their error count was also lower, and Sean Edwards has to take a lot of credit, together with the other French coaching team,

NZ look a shadow of the side they once were, totally lost the All Blacks mystic.

As for France, you can only see SA stopping them. For that to happen, they(boks) will need complete forward dominance, which they are not going to achieve ATM against France

NZ don’t have the front 5 beating of some teams any more.

Some of the big NZ names were very quiet. Hardly saw Savea, Barrett.

I really would like to see France go on to win the whole tournament now.
Go ahead..........Take those banana's

Well Mark I enjoyed the game. I didn't have the time or indeed the desire to watch the whole opening ceremony which I understand didn't get rave reviews but the rugby didn't let me down. As Wil has pointed out above the NZ front 5 do not intimidate the better teams any more & France possess a host of strong carrying front 5 forwards & in Alldritt they probably have the best No 8 in the World right now who is complemented by the marvelous Olivon & any number of willing 6's who just love doing the donkey work so they are a well balanced team.

I cannot see NZ troubling whoever finishes top of the other group be it Ireland or South Africa. I thought Smith did a very good job on Dupont who had one of his quietest games. Jalibert is a box of tricks but he has to believe in himself at this level a little more - this World Cup could really see him catapult himself into one of the greats as long as that confidence & belief improves. France missed Danty but I thought Arthur looked the part when he came on.

France with manic support are most definitely the team to beat for me.

Aldritt put in as complete a performance as any No 8 I’ve seen. Love that guy ( also got me a bucket full of points for my Fantasy team!)

Eclipsed Savea ( who I thought did ok).

French deserved the win for a powerful 2nd half. NZ just couldn’t get territory or a foothold in that period, and were reduced to clearing their lines time and again.

The only oddity for me was DuPont. Looked a little out of sorts at times.

Great assessment  GPR.
I have one suggestion  though, let's change your 'match day '  intials
to " JBG". Younger SF contributers  won't know what that means...but let's just say,  he used to write for the Western Mail LOL

Joined at the anthems and thankfully the game was better than the French anthem which I was looking forward to expecting a deafening sound but only got complete confusion even from the players!!
NZ were frighteningly efficient for the first try but France got through what must have felt a crushing expectation and started to turn the screw. Ramos was imperious and will punish any team. The French were very efficient and NZ lived on back foot ball for the majority of the time.
Very enjoyable game to watch. This was made possible by an excellent game by the officials let’s hope the rest of the officiating is at the level.

I’m sorry thought Jaco Piper was awful mused so much players off the feet at every ruck people being taken out off the ball. The Offside of Jordan for the second NZ try, the offside for the last French try. He missed two acts of theatrical throwing them selves on the floor one by NZ and one by France trying to get penalties. As Nigel would say this is not soccer.
As for the game France should have won by 40 points the All Blacks looked lost in second half the only tactic Barret had was the up and under and hope for the best.
Italy could surprise them you heard it here first.
She asks why i still can't answer. I guess its in the blood.

I actually enjoyed the speed of play and not seeing 10+ replays of every decision at about 4 different speeds.  On my feed, they showed the place kick timer clock early on, then dropped it.

Jaco always lets a lot go, and this game was no exceptiopn, which in some ways, makes it easier to watch.  It was odd the to see a NZ team have no idea how to play in the second half, and resorted to aimess kicking.  Perhaps the French were that good, and Sion has their number.

1. NZ have a lot of problems to solve. The front 5 aren't dominant and there's no 7 of note. They ran out of steam in the last 20 (unheard of in the past). Indiscipline is rife.
2. France have depth and can play wide or tight. They will miss Ntamack and missed Dainty last night.
3. Let's see how the Saffers get on.
4. Wales will do well if they front up against SA or France down the line, I think we could certainly push NZ.
What's going on?

QF1 – Winner Pool C (Australia) v Runner-up Pool D (Argentina)
QF2 – Winner Pool B (Ireland/SA) v Runner-up Pool A (New Zealand)

Semi - Australia V Ireland/SA/NZ

QF3 – Winner Pool D (Engand?) v Runner-up Pool C (Wales/Fiji)
QF4 – Winner Pool A (France)v Runner-up Pool B (Ireland/SA)

Semi England V France/Ire/SA

very strange draw

the boks and irish will end up playing france or new zealand

Yet england may end up with fiji or wales

we if may end up with argentina or england

the aussies could win our group then argentina to get to the semi finals

The SA v Ireland game looks the game of the group stages. Thats a 50 50 game

Thanks for this Piper is awful....as soon as I saw him I thought Southern Hemisphere bias....but France are the complete team for me ...have said it in previous posts they have two sets of front 5 forwards available...they have backs that can tear anyone up and yes Dupont was marshalled well by Smith...but it won't happen again .

First time ever NZ lost a pool game...First time ....they don't lose ...but they did in France....as Bonnie Tyler once sang " I was lost in France ".

In 1972, Roy Bergiers scored that try and said "that was for you lofty"

"All you have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us"
