There doesn't seem to be a 6N 2010 folder yet, so I'll start this here - mods please movle later on if you want.
I'd go for these players: 15 Byrne (if fit/not banned) 14 Halfpenny (if fit) 13 Roberts 12 Hook 11 Shane 10 Stevo 9 Roberts 1 Jenkins 2 Rees 3 A Jones 4 AW Jones 5 B Davies 6 Powell 7 M Williams 8 R Jones The thinking: Stevo had a better game than Biggar and is far more experienced, so I'm pretty sure he'll start at 10. Even though Rees is playing better than any other scrum half currently, Roberts and Jones are used to each other, and Martin is also in good form - so they get in as a pair. Hook provides a bit of creativity at 12 - Roberts can use his weight running onto his or Stevo's passes. Maybe it is a bit risky having two small wings, but Tom James is a headless chicken, and I'd rather see Bishop or Shanklin out wide if necessary. The pack almost picks itself, though Gethin J has not been as convincing in the scrum recently as he usually is - I'd almost (but not quite) be tempted to pick Paul James instead. Davies in the second row to add a bit of grunt in the scrums - Gough and deiniol J are a bit long in the tooth, and J Thomas a bit lightweight. This is maybe the most debatable forward selection - ? I suppose you could pick J Thomas at 6 instead of Powell if you want a stronger lineout, but then you lose a bit of power in the loose. Jon Davies on the bench at least. If Byrne drops out, Hook goes to 15 and Jon plays. Bench for the team selected: P James, G Williams, J Thomas, I Gough, Rees, Biggar, J Davies What do the rest of you think? |

I would have picked Delve at 6. Or at least put him on the bench. I think your teams about right but Powell is very average, and I don't rate Brad Davies.

Ritchie Rees as scrum Half
Ian Gough second row ( not sure Gatland will agree)
Dan Lydiate at 6.

I think Lydiate would get munched against the big England backrowers. As much as I don't rate Powell, I would rather him play than Lydiate.
Gatland cutting off his nose to spite his face here again. Delve would have been perfect. |

Cooper? He's not even starting for the Blues these days. Still reckon Rees is in the best form, BUT Roberts will get in as Stevo's usual partner. |

Byrne, Halfpenny, Hook, Roberts, Shane Williams, SJ, Roberts, Ryan Jones, Martyn Williams, Warburton, Alun Wyn Jones, Ian Gough, Adam Jones, Matthew Rees, Gethin Jenkins.
The only positions I'd question at this point would be right wing and number 6. I just feel Halpenny and Shane Williams, while awesome in attack, may be vulnerable together in defence in the back three because of their size. I had considered picking Shaklin at 14. He's done well there in the past and, although he lacks blistering pace, is a solid performer who wouldn't let us down there.
Number six is also an issue for me. Powell does nothing but could make an impact on 65 minutes. I'd go for Warburton with Powell on the bench. It's a shame Dafydd Jones isn't fit.

I'm going with experience. To be honest this is the worst selection of 9s I can remember in a Wales squad. |
