Think it says “Scarlets Supporters Trust” on the planning video.  I just can’t understand that if it wasn’t CRY16, how they wouldn’t have put out a statement denying it was them. Especially as it’s been 24 hours of radio silence from them!

I don't know. I'm speculating. It's an option.

If true, it's deplorable. I'd love to know who might have been deluded enough to think that this would be 'the right thing to do'.

CRYS 16 need to make a statement about this pretty damn quick as there's been radio silence for 24hrs.

Is it true? If so - was it a collective decision? Was it a lone wolf? Where did the idea come from? Was the Scarlets' board involved/informed? What did anyone think this would achieve...?
What's going on?

I have just emailed Crys 16 posing these questions. Still awaiting a reply.

Seems like they are pleading the 5th!

Also nothing from our board which is also worrying.

I think, If it's true that Crys did object and the radio silence since the objection doesn't put them in a good light. Then the whole Crys board should resign and offer an apology to the Ospreys and the Ospreys supporters club. No way should something like this be done on our behalf without our backing. It makes us look petty and narrow minded.

So it is true that CRYS16 did object to the St. Helen’s redevelopment.  Still doesn’t sit right with me.  Are we that insecure with our position that we felt it was necessary.

Member Update: St Helen's Redevelopment
We are writing to you following the recent news that we, Crys16, as a Supporters Trust were one of two letters who objected to the planning application made by the Ospreys relating to the redevelopment of St Helen’s.

We hear and understand our members’ concerns and passionate debate this has created. This is why we wanted to set out the context of our objections amidst the ongoing and increasing uncertainty of the future of professional rugby in Wales. In any event, we will reflect on Member feedback seriously.

Whilst we would not ordinarily get involved in this process, the Crys16 board felt the approval of this application has significant connotations beyond the Swansea City area. These concerns were echoed by a local member of the Senedd, Cefin Campbell MS, and MPs Ann Davies and Nia Griffith on BBC Wales earlier today. Acting in the best interests of our members and with little time to consult our members, we undertook the difficult decision to take this action to defend one of our constitutional principles and protect the future of professional rugby in Llanelli.

As many of you will be aware from recent media reports, the WRU have expressed a preference to reduce the number of teams in Wales, potentially to having just one based in the West. The approval of a new, publicly funded facility in direct competition with Parc y Scarlets, has an existential impact on our future.

We urge members and all Scarlets fans to continue to support the Scarlets, demonstrating to the Welsh public and the rugby world, why the 150 years of heritage of our club is so important not just to cultural, economic and social fabric of Llanelli and Carmarthenshire but the identity of the whole of West Wales.

We always encourage our members to contact us should you still have any concerns. Please get in touch with us directly via the button below.

It does. The objection to planning will not address that. SCC will take positive steps to assist the Ospreys' survival if the WRU's decision is to propose two teams - based in Cardiff & Swansea. SCC would be mad not to protect the economic interests of their area. We would expect CCC to do the same if the WRU proposed a Llanelli & Cardiff plan.

The fight is to convince the WRU that teams based in Llanelli & Cardiff is the better option. Point to a 12-14k venue that's already in place and easier to access than St. Helens. Point to superior attendances over the last 5 seasons. Point to stability of investment over 20 years. Convince the non-rugby people that PYS is the value option that offers the best potential for growth and success in the next 5 years.

That, to me would be a better approach.

What's going on?

The irony is instead of what a appears a bit of a desperate attempt to stop st helens plans if theyd actually made a more genuine objection such as the mindless destructions of st helens cricket ground..A ground set up and created by Llanelli bigwig Charles chambers of Llanelli House... who not only set up St Helens cricket club and 1870 but also set up the football (rugby football) club a year or so later and then went on to become the Welsh rugb unions first chairman. He also played for Glamorgan and was my great uncle x 7 lol
His brawd william chambers pretty much invented the rules for athletics   boxing  billiards and rowing too and his ....his son an Oxford blue hosted the first ever FA cup final too...https://sportinglandmarks.co.uk/john-graham-chambers-the-fa-cup-final-conundrum/
