I don't know. I'm speculating. It's an option. |

Now that CRYS16 have finally admitted that they did in fact object to the St. Helens redevelopment. I’d like to know:- 1. Did CRYS16 inform our clubs board of Directors of their intention to do so? 2. When was the decision made to submit the redevelopment objection and by who? 3. What feedback if any has there been from our clubs board of Directors both prior and post the planning meeting on Tuesday?

Member Update: St Helen's Redevelopment We are writing to you following the recent news that we, Crys16, as a Supporters Trust were one of two letters who objected to the planning application made by the Ospreys relating to the redevelopment of St Helen’s.
We hear and understand our members’ concerns and passionate debate this has created. This is why we wanted to set out the context of our objections amidst the ongoing and increasing uncertainty of the future of professional rugby in Wales. In any event, we will reflect on Member feedback seriously.
Whilst we would not ordinarily get involved in this process, the Crys16 board felt the approval of this application has significant connotations beyond the Swansea City area. These concerns were echoed by a local member of the Senedd, Cefin Campbell MS, and MPs Ann Davies and Nia Griffith on BBC Wales earlier today. Acting in the best interests of our members and with little time to consult our members, we undertook the difficult decision to take this action to defend one of our constitutional principles and protect the future of professional rugby in Llanelli.
As many of you will be aware from recent media reports, the WRU have expressed a preference to reduce the number of teams in Wales, potentially to having just one based in the West. The approval of a new, publicly funded facility in direct competition with Parc y Scarlets, has an existential impact on our future.
We urge members and all Scarlets fans to continue to support the Scarlets, demonstrating to the Welsh public and the rugby world, why the 150 years of heritage of our club is so important not just to cultural, economic and social fabric of Llanelli and Carmarthenshire but the identity of the whole of West Wales.
We always encourage our members to contact us should you still have any concerns. Please get in touch with us directly via the button below.

It does. The objection to planning will not address that. SCC will take positive steps to assist the Ospreys' survival if the WRU's decision is to propose two teams - based in Cardiff & Swansea. SCC would be mad not to protect the economic interests of their area. We would expect CCC to do the same if the WRU proposed a Llanelli & Cardiff plan.
The fight is to convince the WRU that teams based in Llanelli & Cardiff is the better option. Point to a 12-14k venue that's already in place and easier to access than St. Helens. Point to superior attendances over the last 5 seasons. Point to stability of investment over 20 years. Convince the non-rugby people that PYS is the value option that offers the best potential for growth and success in the next 5 years.
That, to me would be a better approach.

I agree with that. Crys 16 , its a very good organisation, very much valued, but probably made the wrong call call here. An objection to planning applications has many dimensions, and I have sat on various planning committees. The angle Crys have taken is the social and economic impact the creation this stadium will have. It must be remembered however we are talking of an existing team , who allready play in the city of Swansea. Planning applications however, generally examine social impact on residents ( Council tax payers) living in the area. I know some St Helens residents strongly object. Then you have the huge impact on traffic, parking and road safety. Parking in and around St Helens is allready at a premium, and there are some, but limited opportunities available to develop. Traffic wise , you allready have a bottle neck leading from Jersey Marine to Mumbles. Osprey fans ( from Swansea) I have met at Glammy cricket games say unequivocally that St Helens is the wrong option.
As our friend states above its up to us (Scarlets and Carmarthenshire CC) to ensure that if it came to a straight choice Parc Y Scarlets is the obvious choice, for multiple reasons. Hopefully it won't come to this, but goodness knows sadly ,when the WRU have, anything to do with it.
Finally Roy Munsters point of the destruction of Swansea cricket is a good one. I have watched cricket at St Helens since I was a boy, loved it. Always well attended for Glammy games. Swansea CC however presided over the apalling decline over a prize asset like St Helens, and it got to the stage where Glamorgan couldn't play there any more. Despite this , the council found an incredible amount of money under the sofa for the Osprey hair brain scheme . We will see how it pans out .

There is a large car park but it is used as a park and ride, fairly busy on a Saturday. The biggest problem though it is only accessible from the Mumbles end, so if coming from city you have to detour around the ground to gain access, and when leaving you can only turn right so have to detour again to go to Mumbles say.

Don’t think a mini roundabout would go down well on such a busy rd. there are traffic lights but no right turn from the east and no right turn to the west when leaving.

ihts a right turn not a new motorway, it will get sorted if and only if the revamp goes ahead. if not they won’t bother

So says the traffic expert , on such a busy road. Traffic, parking and the new stadium are a bonkers combination
