HT 7-19
Ben Carter off after 27s with a head or neck injury - worrying. Scrums a bit odd, with Smith on top on one side and Assiratti suffering on the other. First try - Faletau loops around the back of a lineout and gives Thomas a scoring pass. Second try - against a man short in their back line, slick handling to Rogers and he takes the outside - good try. Japan try - Thomas up too late, Williams too far back. Good hands by Japan. Pen try - kick ahead slapped over dead ball line by Japan as Adams looks to score. Josh made the poiint vigorously to the ref, and it was awarded after a TMO check. TMO also checked a Japan 'try' which ref disallowed for 'held up' by Thomas.. maybe we got a bit lucky there. |

Totally agree. Asseratyi, teddy w hardy and Thomas been poor. Mann having a good game as is faletau. Dont understand using Thomas as crash ball when Jonny is there.

Not a bad game. Lots of running rugby but weather is causing havoc with handling

Some poor work by ref team - an b=obvious knock on but ref initially gave a try. TMO corrected it.
Earlier, a Japan player knocked the ball back into play from 1.5m off the pitch and they were allowed to play on unti it was corrected.

2 teams short on confidence. Playing the game at a silly time not helping but conditions seem to be affecting Japanese game more. Interesting to see what our bench does.
