Much closer than some were anticipating, but somehow I knew itwould be.
England far from their best, but Frabce gave their all. A final, being a one off game , anything can happen, but Canada stand a reasonable chance . Unfortunately for them they haven't cope with Kildunne. A remarkable player. I remember seeing her playing against Exeter, and what impressed me me, wasn't just her change in pace, but the ability to change direction at speed. Reminded me of Ieuan Evans ![]() One issue I had today was the absolutely apalling biased and ridiculous commentary. Who is that stupid woman ? I love Brian Moore, but I HAD to watch the game with no sound. Much better

Yep. Commentary was pathetic. She was biased and amateur sounding as well as the other one. Brian Moore the best one there.

I agree SA.. I loved Brian Moore and Eddie Butler together , wonderful repartee. Both knowledgeable. Brian was incredibly upset when Eddie died..we all were. The incredible Butler voice , but behind the educated tones was a passionate welshman . Brian himself is always fair and even handed, abd he's one of the few who commentate who know ANYTHING about the scrum ![]() That dreadful woman commentating today , was one of the worst I have heard

France threw away a great chance to be well ahead at half time. They were all over England in fairness but didn't convert. Kildunne is another level in fairness & she was probably the reason England won along with France's missed chances.
I admit I don't watch much women's rugby & have only read about how great this England team are but I have to say I was very disappointed in what I saw yesterday. Perhaps Pimp will help me on this one - did I hear 2nd half that one of the England women was born in Ammanford or am I imagining it? One off game in the final & anything can happen - bookies will be adjusting their odds on England as we speak.

To add to the above I thought the ref gave a wonderful impression of a homer. France first half near 70% possession/territory & England hanging on by players entering from the side to jackal - poor. England 5 penalties in a row in about 5 minutes no cards, France break out 2nd half England player seals off no penalty - the list goes on. Please World rugby don't ruin Canada's chances by appointing an incompetent official who reads the English rugby press!!!!!

In the Canada v NZ game, Canada did not concede a penalty until the 61st minute - I'm a bit in 2 minds about it tbh...it was refreshing to see a ref not being over fussy, equally there were plenty off things that were penalisable (not just penalty offences). Overall it was much more enjoyable game than yesterday's though.
Agree with you GPR, France will be rueing how they didn't accrue points when dominant. Overall the RWC event is clearly a big success, and is also succeeding in the transitioning of women rugby from being a minority gender sport to being main stream. It's helpful that the 'best' team is hosting this years event of course, and an 82k+ sellout next weekend will set new records across the piece. The challenge now is to help develop the overall global standard of the teams that compete. Over the tournament to date half the games have been won by 40+ points, and although the new world order across both men and women's sport is to increase the amount of teams competing in a tournament like this, it's not going to promote future growth if there's an elite level, then a big gap before the rest. I'll watch Canada's model with interest. Canada rugby funds it's men's and women's team equally, clearly there was a shortfall in that there was a crowd funding page put up to raise funds for training camps and enhanced preparation for this event...will the windfall from reaching the final ( and possibly winning it) go to fund further growth in the women's game ? A school friend migrated to Vancouver in her 20's ( originated from the industrial conurbation of Pren Gwyn) and she says the country's absolutely gripped by the team's progress. Celebs now wanting to attach themselves to the story ( Ryan Reynolds, Shania Twin etc). This is the type of stuff success brings. What now Wales? |

Lucy packer is from Ammanford Gareth plus you’ve also got Meg jones who Is Welsh speaking. There might be a couple more who were Welsh qualified. They had to go and play in England because of the shambles in women’s rugby in wales at the time
